Premier League goals of the week - gameweek 31

There were 28 goals for us to enjoy in gameweek 31 of the Premier League season, and fortunately for us, there was no shortage of bangers.

It was a week for the set-piece specialists, while we were also blessed with one team's (no spoilers here) longest strike in the last 15 years. Stay tuned.

Without further ado, let's dive in to the best goals that gameweek 31 had to offer.

1. Kevin De Bruyne vs Burnley

Known more for his passing than his shooting, Kevin De Bruyne fancied taking the headlines this weekend.

The Belgian needed just five minutes to open the scoring for Manchester City against Burnley, running on to a cut-back from Raheem Sterling and firing home with a smart volley.

An outside-of-the-boot volley, not a bad way to start things off.

2. Antonio Rudiger vs Brentford

Next up, we've got this 39.6-yard screamer from Antonio Rudiger.

The Chelsea man's willingness to pull the trigger from miles out has entered meme territory in recent months, but he finally got one to nestle in the back of the net against Brentford.

However, if it leads to what happened next, maybe he should stop for good...

3. Vitaly Janelt vs Chelsea

Just two minutes after Rudiger's worldie, Vitaly Janelt went down the other end and fired home his own beauty.

Some nice one-touch passing gave Janelt an inch of space on the edge of the Chelsea box, and the German made no mistake with an absolute rifle that flew past Edouard Mendy.

And the Brentford man wasn't done.

4. Vitaly Janelt vs Chelsea

After Christian Eriksen had put Brentford ahead, Janelt netted his second of the game with a delightful chip.

The 23-year-old flashed the composure of someone with more than just two league goals to his name heading into the weekend as he ran from deep and held his nerve against the onrushing Mendy.

It's a shame he signed his new contract before this game. There could have been a tidier pay rise on the cards.

5. James Ward-Prowse vs Leeds

Just James Ward-Prowse doing James Ward-Prowse things.

What more can we say? Southampton got a free-kick on the edge of the box, and the midfielder stepped up and banged it top bins. As per.

That's his fourth free-kick goal of the season, and he's probably not even done.

6. Aaron Cresswell vs Everton

Anything you can do, I can do better.

From the other side of the pitch this time, Aaron Cresswell flexed his own free-kick muscle as he bent this sumptuous effort past Jordan Pickford in the Everton net.

It was the West Ham left-back's first goal since he netted against Newcastle on the opening day of the season.

7. Mason Holgate vs West Ham

It wasn't the greatest of weekends for Everton, but Mason Holgate had a nice individual highlight to remember.

The centre-back, who was a late addition to the starting lineup, made his presence known by fizzing a fierce volley through a crowd and into the bottom corner.

Can we take a second to appreciate Richarlison's assist? He just This Is Sparta's the ball into Holgate's path. Impressive.

8. Son Heung-min vs Newcastle

Matt Doherty's neat diving header (and Harry Kane's mental assist) nearly made the cut, but we've gone with this glorious team goal by Son Heung-min instead.

From back to front, Spurs flexed their ability on Newcastle by passing their way up the pitch with real pace and purpose. The rebirth of Dejan Kulusevski continued as the Swede marauded down the right wing and played in a great ball for Son, who could hardly miss.
