Nuno Espirito Santo named Premier League Manager of the Month for September
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has been named the Premier League Manager of the Month for September.
Nuno has made a perfect start to his Spurs tenure after taking over from the departing Jose Mourinho this summer. He kicked things off with a terrific 1-0 win over champions Manchester City on the opening weekend - a game in which he was without talisman Harry Kane.
This was followed with successive 1-0 victories over Wolves and Watford, with Tottenham the only Premier League side who still have a 100% winning record this season.
Nuno revealed his delight at receiving the award, paying tribute to his backroom staff during an interview posted on the league's official website.
"It’s a privilege, I’m very thankful," he said. "Behind the scenes, with all the work that everybody in the club does, helping the coaching staff and trying to provide the right environment for the players to compete, because this is how we want to work together, push each other, help each other, so it’s a privilege to be here.
"I always say that it’s down to the hard work of the players. The players have worked really hard in pre-season and that gave us the ability to compete well in the beginning of the season.
"In the league they’re tough matches and always very competitive, but the credit is for the players because they are the ones who delivered the results and the performances."
