PSG goalkeeper Sergio Rico suffers 'serious' head injury after falling from horse

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Sergio Rico has been hospitalised with a "serious" head injury following a horse riding accident, multiple sources in Spain have reported.
The 29-year-old was an unused substitute for PSG's 1-1 draw with Strasbourg on Saturday night, which clinched a ninth Ligue 1 title in 11 years for the Parisians.
Rico is understood to have returned to his hometown of Seville after the game, with PSG's players given the day off to be with their families.
Leading Spanish publication AS are among a number of outlets to report that Rico was involved in an accident involving a runaway horse on Sunday morning, resulting in the former Fulham goalkeeper being airlifted to hospital.
The Spaniard is believed to have been struck in the neck by the stray horse, before being transferred to the Virgen del Rocio hospital in Seville.
Former employers Sevilla have tweeted well-wishes for Rico, who won two Europa League titles at the club before joining Fulham at the beginning of the 2018/19 season. He established himself as a first-team regular at Craven Cottage, making 32 appearances in all competitions, but ended up joining PSG on loan when the Londoners opted to move for Alphonse Areola.
Rico has played 24 times for PSG, joining the club on a permanent basis in 2020 for a fee of €6m. He has served as understudy to Keylor Navas and Gianluigi Donnarumma, the latter of whom remains the club's number one goalkeeper.
The severity of Rico's condition has not been confirmed by medical personnel or his family, but further reports in Spain suggest his head injury is 'serious' and say that he had to be intubated upon his arrival at the hospital. Rico is believed to be awaiting further tests and scan results.
