Paris Saint-Germain head coach Christophe Galtier has been taken into police custody relating to allegations of discrimination.

Galtier has been accused of racism and Islamophobia during his previous spell as manager of Nice. An email supposedly from former Nice director Julien Fournier in which concerns were raised about working with the manager due to his attitude and response to the squad's black and Muslim players was leaked earlier this year.

Fournier has denied he was the source of the leak despite his frosty relationship with the 56-year-old.

Galtier has denied such accusations and his lawyer revealed plans to pursue legal actions against the 'insulting and defamatory remarks' following the leak, with the PSG boss receiving emergency protection in the last few months.

Le Parisien and AFP now report Galtier and his son, John Valovic, have been taken into police custody over a case relating to 'discrimination at work based on belonging to an alleged race or religion'.

Galtier is set to be replaced as PSG head coach in the coming days by Luis Enrique, while 90min reported earlier in June that he held talks with West Ham over succeeding David Moyes prior to their Conference League triumph. The Hammers have decided to stick with the Scot, however.

In his sole season at PSG, Galtier led them to another Ligue 1 title, though had to wait until the penultimate weekend of the season to secure top spot. They fell short in the Champions League again, with Bayern Munich eliminating them at the last-16 stage.
