Paris Saint-Germain squad members reacted with anger to Kylian Mbappe's recent comments on the culture of the club, which included labelling it 'divisive'.

Mbappe's future is still up in the air with PSG not willing to lose the World Cup winner for free, though he has revealed he intends on leaving next year once his contract expires.

In an interview with France Football which took place in June, Mbappe pointed the finger at PSG's hierarchy for the consistent failings in the Champions League and claimed it's harder to impress while playing in Ligue 1.

He said: "I think that playing for PSG doesn't help much because it's a divisive team, a divisive club.

"I scored about 40 goals in club (41), 10 with France (13). I was best player, top scorer for the fifth year in a row in Ligue 1. In the Champions League, unfortunately, I got injured before the first leg and, on the return, we were powerless. But in the group stage it seems to me that I was the most decisive player.

"I could do better by my standards. But no magic either. Even the other players gave their all. Sometimes in football you face what is called a glass ceiling. That's why it's not too much of a question for me but more for above."

RMC Sport claim six squad members have sent chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi messages regarding Mbappe's interview, with one reading: "It is an insult to the club."

Al-Khelaifi was shocked, while it's also suggested two of those six messages came from new signings. Milan Skriniar, Manuel Ugarte and Marco Asensio have all arrived over the past week or so.

Real Madrid remain the club most hotly linked with the 24-year-old. Club president Florentino Perez remains eager to bring Mbappe to the Bernabeu despite his U-turn back in 2022 when he signed a new contract with PSG.
