Racing Louisville FC sign PSG forward Nadia Nadim

Racing Louisville FC signed European sensation Nadia Nadim from Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year contract including allocation money running through 2023. The forward previously thrived in the NWSL, featuring for Sky Blue FC - now known as NJ/NY Gotham FC - and the Portland Thorns before transferring to Europe. 

In the Division 1 Feminine, Nadim recorded 10 goals and four assists this season alone, leading  Paris Saint-Germain to clinch its first league title in club history. Beyond the pitch, Nadim is known as one of the most prolific humanitarian athletes for her work with the United Nations Scientific and Cultural Organization. 

“We are delighted to have Nadia in our club and city,” said Racing’s head coach, Christy Holly. “We feel that being able to secure an iconic, world-class player is a strong statement of our intent moving forward. Nadia has had a tremendous amount of success throughout her career, and we are excited to tap into those experiences as we build our club.”

The player will be arriving in Louisville after three successful seasons with PSG. She recorded 21 goals and 12 assists in all competitions during her time in France, serving as vice captain to lead PSG in dethroning Lyon’s run of 14 domestic league titles. 

Prior to PSG, Nadim played for Manchester City for two seasons. She has not played in the NWSL since her 2017 stint with the Portland Thorns. 

"I’m looking forward to returning to the NWSL to be a part of Racing Louisville FC,” Nadim said. “The club has an interesting future with a lot of talented players and, from what I've seen and heard, a great fanbase.

“Everyone who knows me understands that I will give blood sweat and tears for that lavender jersey. I want to create history with Racing Louisville, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Internationally, Nadim has been an integral part of Denmark’s success. Born in Afghanistan, Nadim and her family fled to Denmark, where she discovered football and received her citizenship. She’s represented the Danish national team on several occasions, and is currently participating in camp ahead of Thursday’s friendly against Australia. She was voted Denmark’s Player of the Year in 2016 and 2017.
