Rangers 2-0 Celtic: Player ratings as Steven Davis stunner sends Gers through

A heroic performance from Allan McGregor and a cracker from Steven Davis helped Rangers strengthen their dominance over Celtic as the Ibrox side advanced to the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.
Steven Gerrard's team were in charge of a fiery first half and went ahead when Davis - 36-year-old Davis - opened the scoring with an acrobatic overhead kick.

Celtic responded well but spurned two or three good chances before Jonjoe Kenny turned Joe Aribo's cross into his own net to send Rangers into half-time comfortably in the lead.
The second half was the Allan McGregor show. The keeper, who turns 40 next year, pulled off a series of unbelievable stops to keep Odsonne Edouard and Moi Elyounoussi at bay. Celtic appeared to have a lifeline when Leigh Griffiths went down in the box, but even that wasn't beating the inspired stopper who sent Edouard's spot-kick wide of the post.

So that's man of the match sorted...what about the rest of the players?
RANGERS PLAYER RATINGS
1. Goalkeeper & defenders
Allan McGregor (GK) - 10/10 - Decent performance, arguably.
Nathan Patterson (RB) - 7/10 - It's never easy standing in for a right-back whose goal and assist rate puts most strikers to shame but Patterson looked a capable deputy once more.
Connor Goldson (CB) - 7/10 - Strong performance at the heart of the back line. Tidied things up and kept Edouard limited to scraps.
Helander (CB) - 6/10 - Lack of pace was occasionally exposed but generally looked comfortable.
Borna Barisic (LB) - 6/10 - Uncharacteristically quiet on the ball as Rangers focused their attacks down the right. Dealt well with everything that came his way.
2. Midfielders
Glen Kamara (CM) - 6/10 - Busy, bustling performance. Not the most influential in the Rangers midfield but a big part of what makes them tick.
Steven Davis (CM) - 8/10 - Ran the show and deserves bonus points for not dislocating his hip with an audacious overhead kick. The man is 36.
Scott Arfield (CM) - 6/10 - A few moments of real quality shone through even if he wasn't at his absolute best.
3. Forwards
Joe Aribo (RW) - 8/10 - Looked unstoppable on the ball. Created both goals and took Diego Laxalt to the cleaners.
Alfredo Morelos (CF) - 6/10 - Understated by his standards. Often struggles against Celtic and this wasn't an exception.
Ryan Kent (LW) - 7/10 - Bright, lively, and within centimetres of getting a goal to his name before Kenny turned it into his own net.

CELTIC PLAYER RATINGS
5. Goalkeeper & defenders
Scott Bain (GK) - 6/10 - Fairly quiet when he wasn't picking the ball out of the back of his net.
Jonjoe Kenny (RB) - 5/10 - Unlucky with the own goal but really should have been goal side of Kent.
Stephen Welsh (CB) - 6/10 - Has ambitions of a Scotland debut soon and doesn't look out of place in the Celtic side. Made a mess of an early sitter that would have got his team level.
Kris Ajer (CB) - 6/10 - Lack of communication with Laxalt cost Celtic a few times and led directly to the second goal.
Diego Laxalt (LB) - 4/10 - Didn't get much coverage in front of him and desperately struggled against the rampant duo of Aribo and Patterson. Subbed at half-time.
6. Midfielders
Scott Brown (CM) - 5/10 - His Celtic career is winding down with a move to Aberdeen now confirmed. Maybe just in time - the captain looks some way short of his best.
Callum McGregor (CM) - 6/10 - Covered plenty of ground and kept Celtic ticking over in possession. Functional performance.
David Turnbull (AM) - 5/10 - He may well be Celtic's player of the season but the youngster struggled to influence things here. Given license to roam but didn't get much change out of a sturdy Rangers unit.
7. Forwards
Ryan Christie (RW) - 4/10 - Pretty much anonymous.
Odsonne Edouard (CF) - 5/10 - Summed up Celtic's afternoon when he blared a volley over with the goal gaping. Summed up Celtic's afternoon again when he missed a penalty late on.
Mohamed Elyounoussi (LW) - 6/10 - Caused some problems with driving runs into the box. Celtic's best attacker on the day but that really isn't saying much.
