A Bayern Munich top or a pair of shorts seemed like a rite of passage for every young kid on a family holiday. Maybe it was be a hand-me-down from your older sibling that was two sizes too big, but you didn't care - you looked all the rage.

Bayern have had their fair share of beautiful home strips, it aligns with their trophies to solidify them as one of the world's most illustrious clubs.

Let's take a look at the Bavarians best ever home kits.

10. T-Mobile (2003/2004)

It's a real shame this season brought no trophies because imagine seeing a gorgeous fresh-faced Michael Ballack lift silverware in that kit. adidas really nailed the simplicity is ultimate sophistication with this one, didn't they.

Ah, early-00's baggy sleeves and when you could still wear rings on the pitch.

You could argue it was a typical adidas kit of the time, but this thick horizontal hooped striped number just looked so good on Bayern, and the torso of Franck Ribery in particular.

The kit was a shining beacon in a time for change for Bayern, as they scooped the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal wearing it. I don't make the rules.

8. Change of Colour (2002/03)

Let's not argue about what shade or colour, or even why the colour of the home strip changed slightly. Let's admire it in all its glory. The first kit in a very, very long time not to include any of the traditional Bayern red.

Sometimes we like to romanticise 90's football kits but some of the early-noughties kits being arguably better is a hill I'm prepared to die on.

7. The Glory Days (1965-1970)

Ah, the original Bayern Munich glory days. A Bundesliga, three DFB-Pokal's and UEFA Cup Winners' Cup all in five years. But the biggest prize of all - the kit.

White shirts with red neckline and red sleeves, red shorts and socks. Without sponsors! Probably held water like a camel when it rained, but still, it looks awesome.

6. Blue/Red Stripes (2014/2015)

Controversial I know. Bayern fans talked the club into never putting blue on their home kit again after bitter rivals 1860 Munich donned a blue strip.

But we cannot deny the beauty of two shades clashing. Opposites attract, no? The neckline is what everything you want from a football shirt, not too tight, not too baggy. Well done adidas, well done.

5. Opel (1992/93)

I previously stated that we romanticise 90's football kits but sometimes, it's okay to let our mind have a little wander. Didn't do things half-heartedly back then either.

The three stripes coming over the shoulder and around the shorts is what really makes this kit, it sort of makes Lothar Matthäus look all the more German.

4. Red and Blue Again - (1999-2001)

Yes we're going with the blue sleeves again. Please don't hate me Bayern fans. adidas certainly pulled a blinder with this centenary kit.

A time when everybody wore long sleeves and tucked their shirts in, the red and blue hooped socks are the icing on the cake really - proper football socks them.

3. Throwback to the 70s - (2017/18)

Every season, there are several clubs that try to throw things back to the good times. Sometimes it doesn't work out but this, this is perfect.

An ode to the 1973/74 European Cup winning strip, adidas got every inch right. It just looks so clean and neat, it almost looks better than the original. Outstanding kit.

2. Back to Red-White (2005/2006)

Sammy Kuffour's "Wir brauchen rot-weiße Trikots" rant really resonated with all parties involved in designing Bayern kits, so adidas ventured down a early-80s collar rabbit hole.

The crest was placed inside of the same silvery background that the team used notably on their 1996 UEFA Cup-winning white kit but also sporadically throughout the 1970s and 80s.

1. Commadore (1987/88)

Where do you even start with this one? 80's adidas sponsored by a revolutionary games control. Short shorts and long sleeves with white cuffs. Magnificent.

You don't get tops like that anymore, probably never will do. Bayern have had some fantastic shirts but this tops them all. Oh, if anybody has one laying around, let me know.
