There's an early-season heavyweight clash in the Bundesliga on Saturday evening, as Bayern Munich travel to RB Leipzig on matchday four.

Leipzig resume domestic action in need of a result, having thus far only picked up one victory in their opening three league fixtures under new boss Jesse Marsch. That 4-0 win over Stuttgart has been sandwiched by two 1-0 losses to Mainz and Wolfsburg respectively, leaving last campaign's runners-up sitting tenth.

Bayern have started characteristically strongly. Julian Nagelsmann, who will face his former side on Saturday, saw his side denied all three points at Borussia Monchengladbach by a heroic Yann Sommer before subsequently sealing a 3-2 win against Koln and, last time out, a 5-0 hammering of Hertha Berlin. Die Roten currently find themselves third in the table, although won't be planning on staying there long.

Here's 90min's preview of this clash.

RB Leipzig team news

Left-backs Angelino, Marcel Halstenberg and Marcelo Saracchi are doubts for the game so 19-year-old Croatian Josko Gvardiol is likely to keep his spot there, having started the last two since his €19m arrival from Dinamo Zagreb.

There are also concerns over the availability of Benjamin Henrichs, meaning possible starts for either Lukas Klostermann or Nordi Mukiele, who returns to Leipzig having just earned his first cap for France.

Bayern Munich team news

Nagelsmann will likely be without France internationals Dayot Upamecano, Kingsley Coman and Corentin Tolisso, while there are doubts over a number of first-team players including the likes of Thomas Muller, Alphonso Davies and Marcel Sabitzer.

We should see the return of Lucas Hernandez in the Bayern defence, while Alphonso Davies is set to shake off an injury and start.

RB Leipzig vs Bayern Munich prediction

Leipzig have been getting stronger and stronger in recent years and now look like perennial challengers to what you'd expect to be Bayern's throne once more - if that's to change, then this clash will be crucial.

Both sides will be keen to get on the front foot and secure a mammoth three points and, with a still finely balanced but newly-shaped side, the hosts will likely represent a new opposition for the Bayern players - and, of course, former Leipzig boss Nagelsmann.

While the Die Roten Bullen have a strong set up with now established squad members, their shaky start under new management will give the visitors huge encouragement - if they needed it in the first place. Bayern have a team stacked with quality and world-class options and simply love scoring goals - an aggregate scoreline of 17-0 in their past two matches (including a 12-0 cup win over fifth-tier Bremer SV) is proof enough.

Robert Lewandowski will be preying on goal once more - already looking for his 11th strike in eight games for club and country this campaign - and with the blossoming creativity behind him, you wouldn't bet against that early season tally growing.

Prediction: RB Leipzig 1-3 Bayern Munich
