Real Madrid's best and worst players in draw with Athletic Club
Real Madrid capped off their 2022/23 La Liga campaign on Sunday evening with a 1-1 draw against Athletic Club.
Los Blancos initially went behind in the game early in the second half thanks to an Oihan Sancet goal but found a way back into the game through (yep, you guessed it) the departing Karim Benzema.
The French forward's penalty kick was not only enough to secure a draw on the day, but also a second place finish in La Liga.
Here's Real Madrid best and worst players from the game according to 90min's player ratings:
Real Madrid best player vs Athletic Club
Thibaut Courtois - 9/10
Did Thibaut Courtois expect to have to make seven saves, one of which being a penalty kick, to ensure Real Madrid didn't lose on Sunday?
Probably not.
Did he do it though?
Absolutely.
The Belgian proved once again why he's the best goalkeeper around this weekend, making a number of stunning stops to earn Los Blancos what proved to be a crucial point.

Honourable mention
Vinicius Junior - 8/10
It's officially official: watching Vinicius Junior is the most fun a football fan can have.
The Brazilian was once again Real Madrid's most potent attacker against Athletic Club on Sunday as he caused havoc with his stunning dribbling ability. Had it not been for some poor finishing from Rodrygo, Vini would've ended the game with possibly the assist of the season under his belt as he teed up his fellow Brazilian following a brilliant mazey run out the right flank.
Real Madrid's worst player vs Athletic Club
Dani Ceballos - 3/10
It fundamentally was not Dani Ceballos' day on Sunday.
Honestly, we'd forgotten he was on the pitch until he was carelessly dispossessed in his own defensive third in the lead up to Athletic's goal. He was hooked off shortly after that mistake.
A bad outing.
Dishonourable mention
Dani Carvajal - 4/10
In word, Dani Carvajal's performance was 'sloppy'.
His touch was slightly off, his passing was slightly wayward and most of Athletic's successful attacks came down his flank.
