Real Madrid injuries: Latest Alaba & Courtois news and potential return dates
- Real Madrid's injury list has shortened down the stretch
- Thibaut Courtois & Eder Militao have returned from long-term injuries
- David Alaba out for the season
Real Madrid have waltzed to the La Liga title this year despite some early season pressure from underdogs Girona, while the Spanish giants are also eyeing a 15th European Cup triumph.
With Carlo Ancelotti at the helm and the likes of Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham in devastating form, an impressive double looks a real possibility, and Real have so far been fortunate with injuries heading into final few weeks of the season.
The capital side have seen a number of star players sidelined this term already, several of whom have been missing for a number of months.
Here are the latest updates on Real Madrid's injury concerns.
Real Madrid injuries
Aurelien Tchouameni
- Issue: Foot injury
- Potential return: vs Borussia Dortmund - 01/06/24
After Tchouameni sustained a foot injury during Madrid's dramatic 2-1 victory over Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final, the Spanish media gave him a "20% chance" of being fit for the final.
That arbitrary figure, however, seems to have been rubbished by the player himself. While the Frenchman is set to miss the remainder of the La Liga season, Tchouameni is confident he'll feature at Wembley.
"I think I'll make it to the final," he told Marca during Madrid's La Liga title celebrations. A lack of match sharpness, though, means Eduardo Camavinga could start ahead of his compatriot against Borussia Dortmund.
David Alaba
- Issue: Torn ACL
- Potential return: Start of 2024/25 season
David Alaba became the third Madrid player to sustain an ACL tear this season, with Eder Militao and Thibaut Courtois both returning to action in the spring following lengthy spells out. The Austrian international ruptured his ligaments during the 4-1 win over Villarreal in December and will miss the remainder of the campaign.
The defender has undergone successful knee surgery and is expected to be out of action for eight months. As a result, there are serious doubts regarding his status for Euro 2024.
From a Madrid perspective, Alaba should be fit and firing by the time the start of the 2024/25 season rolls around.
