Real Salt Lake sign Andrew Brody to contract extension
Real Salt Lake have signed Andrew Brody to a contract extension, keeping the player through the 2024 Major League Soccer season with an additional option for 2025.
The homegrown full-back has been with Real Salt Lake throughout the majority of his developmental process, only stepping away to feature for the University of Louisville and complete a pandemic-forced loan return from Austria.
He initially joined the academy in 2011, and began playing for the club's former USL Championship affiliate and now-MLS NEXT Pro side Real Monarchs.
Brody finally debuted with the first-team in 2021, and has since recorded 27 league appearances.
"I'm excited to be a part of what Pablo Mastroeni, Elliot Fall and the new ownership is building here," he said. "I am always grateful to play in front of the most passionate fans in the league, and everyone's goal is to reward this community – which has given us all so much – by winning trophies here in the near future."
The 27 year-old has featured extensively this season, making 10 starts in the last 11 matches.
"Andrew is the epitome of what our Club's development paradigm represents," stated Elliot Fall. "From the Academy, to the USL, add in an international loan, all of these experiences prepared him for Major League Soccer.
"Perhaps the route at times appeared circuitous, but Andrew seized each opportunity, every step of the way, to hone his craft, sharpen his performances, and grow into a solid MLS contributor. We are exceptionally proud of how he represents the badge, and his attitude, work ethic and skill reflect greatly on our community."
With Brody's help, the team currently sits in fifth place on the Western Confernece table with 16 points in 11 games.
