Lyon begin the defence of their Division One Feminine title on Sunday as they travel to Reims.

Sonia Bompastor's side head into the new campaign off the back of a stunning 2021/22 season, regaining their Division One Feminine and Champions League crowns in Bompastor's debut year in senior management.

They face a Reims side who finished comfortably in mid-table last term - 20 points clear of the drop, and 30 points clear of champions Lyon.

Reims vs Lyon team news

Lyon will be without fullback Ellie Carpenter, who is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after rupturing her ACL in last season's Champions League final. Forward Catarina Macario will also miss out, having suffered the same injury as Carpenter just two weeks later.

Centre back Griedge Mbock is another a long-term absentee, having sustained a knee injury on international duty with France earlier this month.

Sara Dabritz could make her league debut for Lyon on Sunday following her summer switch from PSG.

Lyon predicted lineup

Lyon (4-3-3): Endler; Cayman, Renard, Sombath, Bacha; Dabritz, Horan, Van de Donk; Cascarino, Hegerberg, Malard.

Reims vs Lyon score prediction

Despite missing a number of key players through injury, Lyon should still have far too much star quality for Reims. Bompastor's side are vying to win a 16th league title - in just 17 seasons - and will likely face tougher tests than Sunday's opposition. A straightforward Lyon victory seems the most likely outcome.

Prediction: Reims 0-4 Lyon
