Romelu Lukaku undergoes Roma medical as Chelsea finalise loan fee
- Chelsea agree loan package with Roma for Lukaku
- Lukaku to return to Serie A following two previous spells with Inter
- Belgium striker to reunite with Jose Mourinho
Romelu Lukaku will be unveiled as a Roma player on Wednesday after undergoing a medical in the Italian capital, sources have confirmed to 90min.
The Belgium international has been trying to secure another exit from Chelsea this transfer window following the expiration of his season-long loan spell at Inter.
Lukaku had been expected to return to the Nerazzurri, but they walked away from negotiations earlier this summer after learning that the striker was open to joining rivals Juventus.
Like Inter though, Juventus also failed to reach an agreement with Chelsea, while Lukaku continually resisted the chance to head to the Saudi Pro League and was determined to continue his career in Europe.
90min first reported last week that Roma had emerged as a potential destination for Lukaku, with Jose Mourinho open to a reunion with the 30-year-old having previously worked together at Chelsea and Manchester United.

Lukaku was granted permission by Chelsea to travel to Italy on Tuesday to undergo a medical while the two clubs thrashed out the terms of the loan.
90min understands that Roma have agreed to pay a €5m (£4.3m) loan fee, plus a further €3m (£2.6m) in add-ons to Chelsea.
Lukaku has also agreed to drop a third of his hefty wages in order to complete the loan move to the Stadio Olimpico and Chelsea have completely shifted his salary for the 2023/24 season.
Roma and Mourinho have been desperate to sign a new striker this transfer window after Tammy Abraham picked up an ACL injury at the back-end of the 2022/23 campaign.
