Ruben Neves confirms stance on January transfer amid Arsenal & Newcastle interest

Al Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves has insisted he wants to remain with the Saudi Arabian side this winter despite interest from both Arsenal and Newcastle United.

Neves, who left Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer, has plenty of suitors back in the Premier League. Newcastle have seen their desire to sign Neves on loan blocked by a league vote, but they have considered a permanent move for the Al Hilal midfielder.

Arsenal are also among the sides tracking Neves, but the 26-year-old has made it clear he is not interested in a return to England.

Asked if a move to Newcastle in January was possible, Neves told BBC Sport: "I don't go.

"I think that's rumours because of the owner of the clubs of course, and because I've played in England as well.

"There was Newcastle interest before I came here but I'm really happy here, my family's really happy, so I'm having a great time."

Pressed further on the interest in his services, Neves ended with a definitive statement: "Everything is going really well for me and I want to stay here."

Al Hilal, owned by the same Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) which owns Newcastle, signed Neves for £47m during the summer and have seen him rack up 19 appearances, leading his side to the top of the Saudi Pro League.

His move to the Middle East came as a significant shock as Neves, 26, had plenty of suitors from across Europe, with the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona both tracking his availability before the midfielder's departure from Molineux.

After missing out on Neves, Newcastle struck a deal to sign Sandro Tonali from AC Milan, but the midfielder's lengthy suspension for gambling breaches has forced the Magpies to return to the transfer market for cover.
