Samuel Iling-Junior made history during Juventus' 2-0 win over Atalanta in Serie A clash on Sunday afternoon.

The 19-year-old winger, born in Islington, joined Juve's youth system from Chelsea in 2020 and has been promoted to the first-team this season by boss Massimiliano Allegri.

Iling-Junior had made 12 appearances in all competitions prior to Sunday's trip to Atalanta, where Allegri handed him his first senior Juve start.

It was the first time in 30 years an English player had been included in the starting XI for the Bianconeri, but his goal just before the hour mark also made him the nation's first goalscorer for Juve since David Platt.

Platt scored three goals for the Three Lions at the 1990 World Cup and he would move to Italy, where that tournament was hosted, little over a year later. He first joined Bari before signing for Juve in 1992.

He stayed in Turn for only one season, with the last of his four goals for the club coming on 22 May 1993 in a 1-1 draw with Sampdoria, the team he would sign for and play two seasons with before returning to England with Arsenal and finally Nottingham Forest.

Dusan Vlahovic came off the bench to Juve's second deep into stoppage time, with the win taking Allegri's side into second.

Iling-Junior has also played in the Champions League this season, providing an assist during a 20-minute cameo in the 4-3 defeat to Benfica in October.

90min understands a number of Premier League clubs are interested in a summer move for Iling-Junior, with Manchester City, Newcastle and former side Chelsea all keeping tabs.

German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the teenager, who signed a contract extension to remain at the Allianz Stadium until 2025.
