Sarina Wiegman admits England 'had to fight' to seal victory over Denmark
- Sarina Wiegman pleased with England victory
- Unsure of how serious Keira Walsh's injury is
- Happy with how team adapted to early change
Sarina Wiegman admitted that the Lionesses' fighting spirit and resilience secured England's victory against Denmark at the Women's World Cup.
England took the lead in the sixth minute when Lauren James scored a strike from about 20 yards out.
From then, they managed to see out the victory despite not being at their best.
"We started well, we played well and scored the goal and then we had a little stage in the first half [where] we lost balls we didn't have to lose," Wiegman told the BBC after the win.
"Second half was a fight and the team showed we adapted to the new situation and we had to fight to win. I am very proud of the team.
"For me it doesn't matter who scores the goals. They played well, they started well and yes, LJ scored a beautiful goal."

The triumph was tinged with concern as midfielder Keira Walsh suffered a worrying injury during the first half. She was seen saying "I've done my knee" before she was stretchered off in the 38th minute.
On what she knew about Walsh's injury, Wiegman added: "Nothing. It did look serious so if you can't walk off the pitch it's serious. I don't know, we've just finished the game.
"I haven't heard anything yet. During the game you have to move on and now it is time to look at how she is and the next steps.
Despite the concern, Wiegman was proud of her team for their response in the face of such a significant injury blow.
"I think they did a great job," the boss explained. "The team really picked it up but it is not nice to see a player on the pitch [like that]. She goes off and that's not nice. I think the team picked up really well and we had to fight. That's what we did."
