Sheffield United welcome Carlo Ancelotti's Everton to Bramall Lane on Monday evening, with the home side continuing their push for Europa League qualification.

The Blades looked to have got over their post restart wobbles in recent weeks, yet their limp performance against a depleted Leicester side in mid-week has left their European ambitions hanging in the balance.

Defeat for the Blades.

The Toffees' frustrating season continued in mid-week as they were only able to rescue a rather undeserved point against a struggling Aston Villa side, while they were also on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline against Wolves last weekend.

With their mid-table fate sealed, the final two games of the season will likely be an opportunity for the players to fight for their futures after another underwhelming Premier League campaign.

Here's 90min's preview of the upcoming fixture...

Team News

Blades manager Chris Wilder is likely to ring the changes having given a scathing assessment of his side's performance against the Foxes on Thursday. The fit again John Fleck is likely to earn a recall to the starting XI, whileJohn Lundstram could also line up alongside the Scotland international. In attack, Frenchman Lys Mousset could be given a start, despite David McGoldrick's recent goalscoring form.

As for the visitors, they will again be without central defender Yerry Mina as well as England international Fabian Delph - who has not featured since February. More worryingly for the Toffees however will be the absence of defender Mason Holgate, who was forced off against Villa.

Predicted Lineups

Sheffield United: Henderson; Basham, Egan, O'Connell; Baldock, Fleck, Lundstram, Norwood, Stevens; Mousset, Sharp.

Everton: Pickford; Coleman, Branthwaite, Keane, Digne; Walcott, Davies, Gomes, Iwobi; Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison.

Recent Form

The hosts made a poor return to competitive action after the restart, yet surprise wins over Tottenham and Chelsea looked to have stopped the rot. However, the recent trip to the King Power Stadium saw the Blades put in an uncharacteristically tepid display, with Brendan Rodgers side claiming a 2-0 victory.

As for Everton, their form of late has epitomised their season as a whole - unpredictable and inconsistent. After a bright start to post-lockdown action, the Toffees have slipped back into their usual ways and are now without a win in their last four league games. Despite having little to play for as the season reaches its climax, a positive result could do the world of good to settle the discontent among the fanbase.

Here's a look at both side's last five fixtures:

Sheffield United

Leicester City 2-0 Sheffield United (16/07/2020)
Sheffield United 3-0 Chelsea (11/07/2020)
Sheffield United 1-0 Wolves (08/07/2020)
Burnley 1-1 Sheffield United (05/07/2020)
Sheffield United 3-1 Tottenham Hotspur (02/07/2020)

Everton

Everton 1-1 Aston Villa (16/07/2020)
Wolves 3-0 Everton (12/07/2020)
Everton 1-1 Southampton (09/07/2020)
Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Everton (06/07/2020)
Everton 2-1 Leicester City (01/07/2020)

Prediction

They've been inconsistent of late, but the brilliance of Sheffield United this season means they must be overwhelming favourites for this clash, particularly with Wilder wanting a reaction following their midweek display.

While the Blades look like a side with a plan and a structure, Everton on the other hand look anything but, as their woes of the last few seasons continue. Overspending and poor recruitment in general has left Ancelotti with an ageing and unbalanced squad that is in dire need of reinforcement, particularly in midfield.

There's surely only one winner here.

Prediction: Sheffield United 2-0 Everton
