Spain predicted lineup vs Slovakia - Euro 2020

Spain boss Luis Enrique has described his side as being like a bottle of cava waiting to be uncorked.

However, the bubbly will remain on ice and untouched unless La Roja qualify for the knockouts of Euro 2020, with two dispiriting draws leaving them in an iffy position as Group E prepares to conclude.

There have been complaints about the quality of the pitch at Seville's La Cartuja, Alvaro Morata's finishing ability and the ghosts of Spain teams past. Whatever the reason for their failings - and there are many to choose from - the truth is that Spain have been one of the least watchable teams at the Euros to date.

The 2008 and 2012 winners need to find a style to match that of their scooter-riding leader, if they are to go deep in this tournament.

A draw is the absolute minimum needed to qualify for the last 16, but only a convincing win will go some way to appeasing the fans.

Here's how Spain could line up to face Slovakia on Wednesday...

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Unai Simon (GK) - The Athletic Club man has become Luis Enrique's number one this tournament after much speculation. He has conceded once (to only the world's best footballer Robert Lewandowski) in the two games so far.

Cesar Azpilicueta (RB) - The Champions League winner is likely to be reinstated at right back in place of Marcos Llorente, who is by trade an attacking midfielder.

Jordi Alba (LB) - One of Spain's better performers so far, Alba captained La Roja in the absence of previously Covid-stricken Sergio Busquets.

Aymeric Laporte (CB) - The new Spain international was given a tough time by Lewandowski who brushed him aside far too easily for Poland's equaliser in the 1-1 draw.

Pau Torres (CB) - The coveted Europa League winner is a sure-fire starter for Spain's crunch tie with backups Diego Llorente and Eric Garcia yet to play a minute of the tournament.

2. Midfielders

Sergio Busquets (CM) - Set to return to as captain for his 11th match at the Euros, having missed the first two following a positive Covid test.

Pedri (CM) - The teenage Barcelona starlet continues to look like Spain's most creative outlet. Despite, Luis Enrique's supposed desire for more experience against Slovakia, Pedri is likely to start again.

Thiago Alcantara (CM) - The Liverpool playmaker has played just 25 minutes of the tournament so far, but could be used in place of Koke as part of a Barça-educated engine room.

3. Forwards

Dani Olmo (FW) - The former Dinamo Zagreb star started off the left in both of Spain's games so far, ahead of Real Sociedad's Mikel Oyarzabal.

Gerard Moreno (FW) - Despite missing a penalty, the top-scoring Spaniard in La Liga's 2020/21 season impressed against Poland, getting the assist for Alvaro Morata's finish.

Alvaro Morata (ST) - The brunt (not always fairly) of criticism during a poor group stage showing from the Spanish. Luis Enrique won't bow to fan pressure however and has said only David Villa or Harry Kane would be improvements on Morata.
