Swansea City 1-3 Manchester City: Player ratings as Citizens ease into FA Cup quarter final

Manchester City recorded a 3-1 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium to book their place in the FA Cup quarter finals and, in doing so, achieved a top flight team record of 15 consecutive wins with Pep Guardiola's 200th victory as City boss.

The first half went as you'd expect, with City dominating the ball and creating chances in the final third, with Gabriel Jesus, Aymeric Laporte and Ferran Torres all coming close to opening the scoring. The only goal of the half would come on 30 minutes when Kyle Walker's scuffed cross went all the way through and found its way into the bottom corner of the net.

The visitors got off to a flying start in the second half, with the second being slotted home just two minutes after the restart when Rodri played in Raheem Sterling to calmly finished past Freddie Woodman. City found their third just three minutes after that, when an Ilkay Gundogan cross was headed back across goal by Bernardo Silva, allowing Jesus to swivel and rifle home.

It was, however, the hosts who found the net next as Morgan Whittaker took down a Ryan Manning cross nicely and picked out the bottom corner of Zack Steffen's goal to pull one back. But that's as much as the Swans could manage, and the Citizens held out for a 3-1 win.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Zack Steffen (GK) - 6/10 - Had very, very little to do but in the end was beaten by the one shot on target. At least he maintained a 100% pass accuracy.

Kyle Walker (RB) - 8/10 - Grabbed a very rare goal and was key for City, he had a whopping 140 touches of the ball. Also very solid defensively, using his pace to cut out several Swansea counter attacks.

Eric Garcia (CB) - 7/10 - Made a crucial block to deny a certain Jamal Lowe goal in the first half, and looked good with the ball, achieving a 95% pass accuracy.

Aymeric Laporte (CB) - 7/10 - Nearly found the opener from a corner in the first 15 and showed his aerial ability in defensive situations too, not giving Lowe or Jordan Morris a sniff in the air.

Benjamin Mendy (LB) - 7/10 - Threatening down the left flank and, like his fellow full-back, did well to defensively too.

2. Midfielders

Rodri (DM) - 9/10 - A phenomenal display, making six key passes (including two assist) and finishing with a pass accuracy of 99%, while also protecting his defence throughout. Came off injured with 20 to go - let's hope it's not serious.

Ilkay Gundogan (CM) - 7/10 - Exudes confidence and got on the ball in spaces where he had no right to. In the end a fairly quiet game, making just one key pass, but did so well in disorientating his opponents and was crucial to his side's third.

Bernardo Silva (CM) - 7/10 - Typically found pockets of space and used the ball well. Grabbed a lovely assist as he nodded Gundogan's ball back across goal to Jesus.

3. Forwards

Ferran Torres (RW) - 6/10 - Very unlucky not to score as Freddie Woodman denied him brilliantly before the break but, despite looking dangerous, failed to take chances or create too much after that.

Gabriel Jesus (ST) - 8/10 - Looked very bright from the outset and troubled Swansea's backline with excellent movement and neat touches throughout. The Brazilian capped off his performance with a fantastic finish for his side's third.

Raheem Sterling (LW) - 7/10 - Drifted infield for the most part and was influential on proceedings, getting City's second with a calm finish.

4. Substitutes

Tommy Doyle (CM) - 6/10 - Looks a real player. Creative, composed and useful on the ball but should have got his head up in the box to set up Torres for a tap in late on.

Riyad Mahrez (RW) - 7/10 - Looked so dangerous after his introduction, putting in several threatening and enticing crosses. Unlucky not to leave Wales with at least one assist.

Phil Foden (CM) - 6/10 - As smooth as ever but will be disappointed not to have scored with one of his first touches, seeing an effort blocked in front of goal.

Claudio Gomes (DM) - 5/10 - Replaced the injured Rodri and looked good enough on the ball, but it was his mistake that lead to the Swansea goal.
