It's like they've never been away.

Arsenal's journey back into the Champions League was certainly a rollercoaster, but the efficiency at which they manoeuvred through Group B suggests they're ready to compete with Europe's elite once more.

Of course, tougher tests than PSV Eindhoven, Lens and Sevilla await in UEFA's premier club competition, but Mikel Arteta's side seem ready for a deep run nevertheless.

After winning their group at a canter, here's a rundown of who they could face in the round of 16.

Teams Arsenal can't face in the Champions League last 16

As one of eight group winners, Arsenal will face one of the runners-up in the round of 16. However, they cannot face any other English side or the second-placed team from their group until the quarter-final stage.

That means another meeting with PSV will have to wait, the Dutch outfit finishing behind Arsenal in Group B.

With Newcastle United and Manchester United having been knocked out, the Gunners needn't worry about facing them at any stage of the competition, while a clash with Manchester City can't take place until the quarter-final as the current European champions are a fellow English side and won their group anyway.

Fortunately for Arteta, his team will avoid meetings with Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona in the last 16 as they won their groups, while the Gunners also can't face Borussia Dortmund, Real Sociedad or Atletico Madrid for the same reason.

Kobenhavn - Group A

Having qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time since 2010/11, Kobenhavn could be potential opponents for Arsenal in the next round. While they may seem like favourable foes in the last 16, their group stage performance highlights that they have the capacity to hurt the Gunners.

Kobenhavn beat Man Utd and Galatasaray in the Danish capital, qualifying ahead of both said teams, and managed a draw away at Bayern on Matchday 5.

Napoli - Group C

With Real Madrid having blitzed Group C, winning all six of their group games, Napoli had to settle for second place. The Serie A champions have been below their best in comparison to last season, but still progressed ahead of Union Berlin and Braga with relative ease.

A 2-0 victory over Braga in their final group game booked their place in the last 16, with Napoli likely to prove a tough test for any side in the knockout rounds, including Arsenal.

Inter - Group D

One team that Arsenal would certainly like to avoid in the last 16 is Inter, last season's Champions League finalists. The Serie A side only finished second in Group D after Real Sociedad pipped them to top spot, setting up some potentially tricky ties for Simone Inzaghi's men.

The last time the Gunners met Inter in the Champions League was back in the 2003/04 group stages, Arsenal losing the home game 3-0 but winning at San Siro 5-1.

Lazio - Group E

Despite some questionable displays, Lazio did secure their spot in the last 16 after finishing runners-up to group winners Atletico Madrid. Maurizio Sarri's side would certainly be one of the more straightforward knockout ties for the Gunners, especially given they currently sit mid-table in Serie A.

Arsenal have only faced Lazio four times in European competition in the past, most recently in 2000, and have never lost to the Italian side.

Paris Saint-Germain - Group F

The 'Group of Death' certainly lived up to its tag, but it was Paris Saint-Germain who squeezed through to the knockout rounds in second place behind Dortmund. The Ligue 1 champions were far from convincing in Group F, only managing two victories from their six games, and they will now face an extremely challenging last 16 tie.

While PSG have been somewhat underwhelming this campaign, Arsenal must still be wary of a team that contains the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele. However, a meeting with the side from the French capital isn't quite as daunting as in past years.

RB Leipzig - Group G

Having understandably failed to topple Champions League holders Man City in Group G despite giving it a good go, RB Leipzig now find themselves as potential opponents for Arsenal. The Bundesliga side proved a handful home and away for Pep Guardiola's side and can't be underestimated in the knockouts.

The two clubs have never met in a competitive fixture given Leipzig's relative inexperience on the European stage and Arsenal's recent absence from the Champions League.

Porto - Group H

Porto, who rarely go a Champions League campaign without facing an English side, could come up against Arsenal in the last 16 this year after a 5-3 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in their final group game secured their spot in the knockout stages.

The 2003/04 winners have a pretty dismal record against English opposition, but have beaten Arsenal twice before in 2008 and 2010 - the latter coming in the Champions League last 16.
