The all-time top goalscorers in MLS history

Kei Kamara rolled back the years during the 2022 MLS regular season, scoring nine goals to help fire CF Montreal into the Playoffs.
Since joining the league in 2006, Kamara has played for nine different teams and has always been a regular source of goals. The 38-year-old's contributions this year - including a run of six goals in his last 11 appearances - moved him to 139 in regular-season play.

Kamara is third on the all-time charts, ahead of legendary Columbus forward Jeff Cunningham. Next in his sights? Landon Donovan.
Here are the top 10 regular-season goalscorers in MLS history:
10. Taylor Twellman - 101 goals
Now better known for his co-commentary and analysis with ESPN, Taylor Twellman was a ruthless goalscoring machine for the New England Revolution back in the day.
Who knows how many more goals Twellman would have scored had a head injury not forced him into retirement at 30.
9. Dwayne De Rosario - 104 goals
Legendary Canadian forward Dwayne De Rosario was a journeyman during his career, playing for five different MLS clubs. He lifted MLS Cup, Supporters' Shield, US Open Cup, and Canadian Championship trophies with DC United, San Jose Earthquakes, Toronto FC, and Houston Dynamo, and also had a brief spell with the New York Red Bulls.
Wherever he went, De Rosario was good for a goal or two.
8. Jason Kreis - 108 goals
Now an assistant to Phil Neville at Inter Miami, Jason Kreis was one of the best attacking midfielders in MLS during his long stint with FC Dallas (then known as the Dallas Burn), while he finished his career with a couple of years at Real Salt Lake.
Though Kreis did pick up an MVP award in 1999, he was unfortunately short of silverware over his career.
7. Ante Razov - 114 goals
Part of those great Chicago Fire teams that won the lot between 1998 and 2003, Ante Razov was one of the most feared forwards in MLS during his time.
Two stays with the Fire, as well as shorter spells with Columbus Crew, MetroStars, and Chivas USA, saw Razov net 114 regular-season goals.
6. Bradley Wright-Phillips - 117 goals
Bradley Wright-Phillips was the perfect example of how a move across the pond to MLS can re-ignite your career, becoming a legend over six years with the New York Red Bulls by firing them to three Supporters' Shield titles.
Wright-Phillips proved himself a useful super-sub at LAFC for a year, too, but retired recently following a less successful stop-off in Columbus.
5. Jaime Moreno - 133 goals
After a tough spell in England with Middlesbrough, Jaime Moreno became one of the early superstars of MLS.
The Bolivian fired D.C. United to four MLS Cup and Supporters' Shield titles, two US Open Cups, a Concacaf Champions' Cup (CCL predecessor), and a Copa Interamericana - beating Brazilian giants Vasco de Gama in the latter.
To this day, Moreno is a worshipped figure in the District.
4. Jeff Cunningham - 134 goals
Though his best years were with the Columbus Crew, Cunningham was another MLS journeyman, also turning out for FC Dallas, Toronto FC, Real Salt Lake, and the Colorado Rapids.
The 14-time US international was always a consistent goalscorer, but has now been surpassed by Kamara at last.
3. Kei Kamara - 139 goals
As mentioned, Kamara moved to 139 goals during the 2022 season and is now five ahead of Cunningham. Second place on the rankings is still realistically in sight with Donovan just six ahead, provided he wants to keep going beyond this season.
2. Landon Donovan - 145 goals
This man needs no introduction.
One of the greatest players in USMNT history, if not the, Landon Donovan was the ever-present goalscoring machine for the LA Galaxy at a time when the club was signing the likes of David Beckham and Robbie Keane.
Donovan won four MLS Cups with the Galaxy to go alongside the two he lifted with the San Jose Earthquakes.
You have to wonder how many more goals he'd have scored had he not gone to Europe for loan spells with Bayern Munich and Everton, although he was well-loved at the latter.
1. Chris Wondolowski - 171 goals
Year after year, Chris Wondolowski just kept turning up.
From 2005 to 2021 - and almost exclusively for the San Jose Earthquakes, a four-year stay with the Houston Dynamo aside - Wondo struck fear into MLS defenses, and from 2010 to 2019, he hit double figures in every single season.
Wondolowski is now on the coaching staff at the Quakes, which is fitting given his legendary status at the club.
Who can catch Wondolowski? Kamara is probably too old and right now, the only realistic bet is Atlanta United's Josef Martinez, who has 98 goals in 134 regular-season appearances and is still just 29 years old.
