The best rabona goals ever scored - ranked
By Mitch Wilks

True flair players at football's highest level are somewhat of a dying breed, which makes those audacious moments feel even better when they come.
Flicks and spins are great - contrary to the opinion of your dad - but nothing quite comes close to seeing someone perfectly execute the rabona, an unnecessarily complicated yet brilliant skill.
It is notoriously difficult to pull off - everyone has seen that David Dunn attempt? - so when they do come off, they're a special moment. Here's 90min's list of the best rabona goals to be scored in the beautiful game.
10. Carlos Bacca (2016)
FIFA cult hero Carlos Bacca had no reason to score with a rabona having already rounded the goalkeeper in 2016, but he did as Milan progressed to the semi final of the Coppa Italia.
That's what makes it even sweeter.
9. Mauricio Cataldo (2003)
Para los fanáticos de Universidad de Concepción (@FutbolUdeC) y del fútbol... ¡Con ustedes la rabona de Mauricio Cataldo (2003)!

Rolling it back to the early 2000s, a man called Mauricio Cataldo scored an obscene rabona against from well outside the box against Universidad de Chile.
Definitely meant it. Bonus points for the commentary and baggy shirts, too.
8. Erik Lamela (2014)

⏪ Erik Lamela's 2014/15 'rabona' ???

Admittedly it came against opposition that are probably no better than some of the lads you play against at five-a-side, but take nothing away from the pure brilliance of this one from Lamela.
Unbelievable tekkers.
7. Andres Vasquez (2007)
Late 2000s Swedish football coverage isn't the easiest to get a hold of, so you'll have to dig this one out. It's there, though, and my word is it worth the search.
Whether Andres Vasquez meant it or not, his dinked rabona came from stupidly far out against Orebro SK.
6. Jonathan Calleri (2015)
Throwback to when Jonathan Calleri produced this outrageous rabona. pic.twitter.com/0tkjQSiFp1

A rabid, packed out La Bombanera? Check. Sublime football kit? Yep. Absurd commentary? Always.
Jonathan Calleri's instinctive rabona was the icing on the cake in a fierce Boca Juniors counter attack. He would go on to spend a season on loan at West Ham in 2016/17.
5. Diego Perotti (2016)

The scorer of the most outrageous goal in last season's Europa League! ?
That rabona ? pic.twitter.com/zU5M0GxdDO
Again it's trademark, obscure Europa League opposition, but this dinked effort from Diego Perotti is unbelievable and flies under the radar (and over the keeper).
He didn't mean it, but we can look past that. Sauce with that chip, please.
4. Erik Lamela (2021)

One isn't enough for Lamela, who enters a second time for his rabona out of absolutely nothing in the north London derby, which shocked teammate Sergio Reguilon to no end.
Just a shame he got sent off and Tottenham ended up losing.
3. Angel di Maria (2009)

Any excuse to watch this nutmeg and rabona finish over and over ?

Before he made his move to Real Madrid, Angel di Maria was lighting it up for the streets with Benfica and scored this cheeky effort.
Glides through on goal, swift nutmeg followed up by a razor sharp rabona to send the goalkeeper and the defender into early retirement.
2. Matias Urbano (2011)

— Fútbol de Antes (@futboldeantescl) March 15, 2021
Back to Chilean football, Matias Urbano earns second place for this unbelievable, first time effort.
Doesn't even need a touch to bring down the cross; that technique is absurd. Seems they were also ahead of the curve regarding empty stadium football.
1. Sean Geddis (2014)
Topping the list is this effort from the depths of the English game. Sean Geddis sells his defender, and then sends him for a hot dog with the goalkeeper with a rabona that was inch perfect and completely intentional.
This has no right taking place in the English non league. Zero.
