The England Lineup That Should Start Against the Republic of Ireland
By Max Parsons
England host Ireland in an international friendly before big ties away at Belgium and at home against Iceland.
Gareth Southgate's men will be looking to bounce back after disappointing result against Denmark last time out, after having beaten Belgium at Wembley three days prior.
The England manager will likely rotate the starting XI, as he did last month against Wales, before competitive fixtures in the Nations League.
1. Goalkeeper and Defenders
Nick Pope (GK): It's been a disappointing start to the Premier League season for the Burnley goalkeeper, but he maintains his number two spot for England.
Eric Dier (CB): Favoured centre back of Jose Mourinho at Tottenham and has played well up to this point in the season.
Conor Coady (CB): The Wolves skipper scored his first international goal in a wonderful performance against Wales last month and looks set to start as Southgate rotates.
Tyrone Mings (CB): Aston Villa have been surprise packages in the league, with Mings being integral to their fantastic early season form. The defender will likely replace Harry Maguire on the left of the back three in a rotated side.
2. Midfielders
Kieran Trippier (RWB): The Atletico Madrid full back is the likely starter ahead of Reece James and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Harry Winks (CM): Somewhat bereft of opportunities at club level this season, Winks will look forward to playing for his country and provide a bit of creativity which looked lacking last international break.
Declan Rice (CM): The West Ham midfielder has enjoyed a good start to the season and will likely play in England's midfield as Jordan Henderson is rested ahead of the Belgium clash.
Bukayo Saka (LWB): Having only won one cap so far in his career, the 19-year old looks likely to build on that number against Ireland as England are somewhat light of bodies on the left side.
3. Forwards
Mason Mount (RW): The Chelsea man seems to be a favourite of Southgate and with his good start to the season for his club, he looks set to start against Ireland.
Dominic Calvert- Lewin (ST): After his free-scoring start to the campaign, the Everton striker deserves another opportunity to impress at international level.
Jack Grealish (LW): The Aston Villa star is forcing his way into the England squad with breathtaking club form. He will look to replicate his link up play with Mount, shown against Wales, as he starts on the left of the front three.
