The Everton Lineup That Should Start Against Bournemouth
By Max Haley
Everton have endured a fairly disappointing season, however things have undoubtedly looked better since Carlo Ancelotti joined the Toffees.
They go into Sunday's game against Bournemouth knowing that their opposition will be raring to go, needing a win to stay up.
This is how Everton should lineup.
Goalkeeper & Defenders
Jordan Pickford (GK): England's number one, Pickford has looked shaky all season. He'll be feeling a mix of relief and worry that the European Championships were suspended for a year as it gives him a year to turn his form around, but on the flip side, it also gives the likes of Dean Henderson and Nick Pope another year to convince Gareth Southgate that they are better options than Everton's goalkeeper.
Djibril Sidibe (RB): In what is likely to be Sidibe's last appearance for the club, the Frenchman will be looking to put in a strong performance for the Evertonians to look back on fondly.
Jarrad Branthwaite (CB): The 18-year old Cumbrian has been nothing short of sensational since breaking into the Everton side three games ago. In his last start, Branthwaite was named man of the match, and he'll be looking to continue his fine form against Bournemouth.
Michael Keane (CB): Eternally shaky Michael Keane is a beneficiary of his defensive colleagues being just as shaky. Nevertheless, the Englishman looked good alongside Branthwaite and maybe he can rediscover the form that earned him his move to Everton in the first place.
Lucas Digne (LB): One of Everton's best players, Digne will look to continue being a danger down Everton's left-hand side.
Midfielders
Tom Davies (CM): The Englishman has been the main beneficiary of Everton selling - or losing to injury - all of their defensive midfielders. He struggled initially playing in a midfield two with either Andre Gomes or Gylfi Sigurdsson, but he has looked a bit more comfortable since Ancelotti returned to a midfield three.
Andre Gomes (CM): The former Barcelona has done exceptionally well to return to the team as quickly as he has following his horror leg break in November. Gomes hasn't managed to rediscover his form from before the injury yet, but will look to salvage it on Sunday.
Gylfi Sigurdsson (CAM): The Icelandic midfielder looked uncomfortable trying to fit into Ancelotti's favoured 4-4-2, but looked back to his best when the Italian redeployed him in attacking midfield in Everton's 1-0 win over Sheffield United.
Forwards
Anthony Gordon (RW): The young winger has benefitted from the dearth of quality wingers at Everton this season. He'll reclaim the spot he lost to Theo Walcott last game.
Richarlison (LW): After prospering in a front two when Ancelotti arrived, his partnership with Dominic Calvert-Lewin looked to be stalling. Then Ancelotti switched Richarlison back to the left of a front three and the Brazilian scored a well-taken header to give Everton all three points last time out.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (ST): Calvert-Lewin has taken complete ownership of the number nine role in this Everton team. Still only 23, the Englishman has started to grow into his body and looks a handful for any defence on his day.
