The Players West Ham Should Look to Sell This Summer

With the 2019/20 season finally in the rear view mirror, it's time for West Ham to look forward.

The club's relegation struggles must now be forgotten, and instead focus needs to be turned to pushing the club up the table where, in reality, the Hammers should probably be given the talent at their disposal.

As always though, changes need to be made. Fresh faces must come in to help the club reset and the proverbial deadwood - occasionally referred to those 'who just aren't up to it' - must be shipped out to help inflate the club's transfer kitty.

In a coronavirus affected transfer market, it's imperative that West Ham adopt an approach their pretty unfamiliar with - one that involves smart business. To do so, 90min is on hand to put forward the names that should be pushed towards the exit door, though whether they end up leaving or not is a completely different matter (aka, they simply may not be affordable with finances crippled all over the shop).

1. Fabián Balbuena

12 months ago, pushing Fabián Balbuena towards the exit door would have been regarded as a wee bit silly.

But after a rather ordinary 2019/20 season, moving on the 'General' now doesn't seem like such a bad idea - in fact, it seems like a great idea once you've watched the away defeat at Burnley on repeat.

Unfortunately, the Paraguayan's confidence seems a little shot to bits and his mobility last season was a huge, huge concern. Why prat around trying to make him better, when you can just accept the reality that he's best of heading elsewhere.

If you believe what you read, David Moyes has already come to the same conclusion.

Potential Destination: Back to South America
Potential Price: £3.5m

2. Felipe Anderson

Similarly, the notion of binning of Felipe Anderson after his impressive debut season at the London Stadium would have been scoffed at.

But, sadly, the Brazilian was borderline abysmal last season, and looked a shadow of the player who had entertained east London to begin with. Confined to the bench, Anderson wasn't trusted by Moyes to dig West Ham out of trouble at the back end of last season - a sure sign that he's heading for the exit.

Makes sense to get rid now, even though the club will make a big loss on him financially.

Potential Destination: Napoli

3. Jordan Hugill

Little reminder for you, Jordan Hugill still plays for the club.

Little prediction for you, Jordan Hugill won't be staying at the club this summer - as surely a permanent Championship move is in the offing. He's good at that level, and isn't going to be given a Premier League chance.

Potential Destination: Any Championship club

4. Roberto

Christ alive, Roberto is back at West Ham.

Don't worry though, everyone will be doing all they can to make sure that he's not around by the time the season starts. He is fourth choice, after all.

5. Jack Wilshere

Selling Jack Wilshere isn't an option, if we're at all honest with ourselves.

No club in the world is going to take a gamble on a player who trousers a stack load of wages, but literally doesn't play.....at all. Talks are thought to be underway in regards to cancelling the last year of his contract, and if successful, could be regarded as one of West Ham's better bits of business.

Nothing personal, Jack - it's just not meant to be.

6. Arthur Masuaku

This final selection won't garner universal approval, but hear me out.

Aaron Cresswell isn't the greatest left back in the world, no, and you wouldn't say that he's particular good defensively - from a positioning stand point anyway.

But what the former Ipswich man is good at is getting up and down the flank, whipping in dangerous crosses and generally not f*cking up.

He's also not one to take a risk when he shouldn't, something that you can't say about Arthur Masuaku. Capable of brilliant flashes, he's usually a heart attack waiting to happen - so if a replacement could be found, it would go a long way to putting a number of minds at rest when West Ham are hanging on for dear life.
