The Real Madrid Lineup That Should Start Against Valencia

It hasn't exactly been an electric start to the season for Real Madrid but Los Blancos find themselves in decent form, having won three and drawn one in their last four games. This run includes a 3-1 triumph at the Camp Nou against Barcelona in El Clasico.

Heading into the La Liga game against Valencia on Sunday night, Zinedine Zidane's side find themselves weakened as Eden Hazard and Casemiro have both tested positive for COVID-19 during the week.

Hoping to carry on their good run of form, here's how they should line up this weekend.

1. Goalkeeper and Defenders

Thibaut Courtois (GK): Despite not having kept a clean sheet in over a month, the Belgian has played every game of the season, and is a cert to feature against Valencia.

Lucas Vazquez (RB): Zidane has favoured the Spaniard at right back in the absence of Dani Carvajal, who remains sidelined with a knee injury.

Raphael Varane (CB): The Frenchman is preferred to start ahead of Eder Militao and his experience could prove vital against Valencia.

Sergio Ramos (CB): The Real Madrid legend scored his 100th goal for the club against Inter in the Champions League on Tuesday, and continues to be a key figure at the club.

Ferland Mendy (LB): The French full-back is just ahead of Marcelo in the pecking order at the moment and provides an attacking threat as well as defensive solidity.

2. Midfielders

Federico Valverde (CM): The young Uruguayan is a rising star and is rapidly evolving into a favourite at the Bernabeu.

Luka Modric (CM): With the absence of Casemiro due to COVID-19, Zidane will likely bring Modric back into the fold.

Toni Kroos (CM): The German is a certain starter for Zidane, and makes Real Madrid's midfield tick.

3. Forwards

Marco Asensio (RW): The winger has featured heavily for Real Madrid this season, and will be aiming to bag his first goal of the season on Sunday.

Karim Benzema (ST): Has been a vital part of the Real Madrid team so far this season. He is the leading marksman for Zidane's side and is a guaranteed starter.

Rodrygo (LW): The 19-year old netted the winner for Real Madrid on Tuesday night in a thrilling game. With the absence of Eden Hazard, the Brazilian seems to have earned the right to come in and replace the Belgian.
