Major League Soccer is back in full swing after a slight international break.

Though certain teams faced week 8 of the 2021 MLS season with certain players missing due to Copa America and the European Championship, the league continued with plenty of action. Spectators witnessed stunning goals, including a strike from New York Red Bulls forward Fabio and a phenomenal debut from New York City FC’s Thiago Andrade. 

Here are the top five goals of MLS week 8...


5. Tommy McNamara vs New York City FC

The New England Revolution midfielder made no mistake when picking up a badly cleared ball inside the box. McNamara floated into the six-yard box in the 88th minute to find a defense-splitting pass from Carles Gil and flick the ball into the back of the net. Though his goal would later be canceled out by another NYCFC equalizer, it remains a contender in 90min’s top goals of MLS week 8.

4. Gustavo Bou vs New York City FC

Bou kicked off the New England Revolution’s offensive attack on NYCFC with a phenomenal goal. After NYCFC center back Maxime Chanot cleared his header, the young player found the rebound and rocketed a right-footed volley into the back of the net from just outside the penalty area. NYCFC goalkeeper Sean Johnson simply watched as the ball twisted into the net.

3. Fabio vs Nashville SC

The New York Red Bulls player inaugurated the scoring against Nashville during week 8 of the season with a jaw dropping goal in the 37th minute. The play began with a long ball played into the box by Sean Nealis on a free kick, where Patryk Klimala found Fabio off of the bounce. The Brazilian picked up the pass to strike the ball into the far post before going into the goal.

2. Thiago Andrade vs New England Revolution

The young New York City FC player came into the match in the 55th minute and marked a phenomenal MLS debut with the equalizing goal. The winger, who came in to replace Talles Magno, found the pass from Maxi Moralez to send a right-footed strike the ball into the goal after hitting the post.

The second-half stoppage time goal from Philadelphia Union player Jakob Glesnes is already generating MLS Goal of the Year and FIFA Puskas Award buzz. Glesnes equalized the score, inspiring Philadelphia Union to earn a point in a game that seemed practically lost. Glesnes shocked audiences after striking an unstoppable shot from well outside the box to find the top corner of the goal. hitting the crossbar three times as it went over the line.

Almost makes up for the 76ers losing to the Hawks in the NBA playoffs. Almost.
