By Sean Walsh
Middlesbrough striker Chuba Akpom has won the PFA Vertu Motors Championship Fans' Player of the Month award for January.
The former Arsenal man was in fine form last month as Boro's kept up their promotion push.
Akpom began 2023 with the late clincher in Middlesbrough's 3-1 win away at Birmingham City, before playing his part in a 1-0 victory at home to Millwall.
The 27-year-old capped off January with the opening goal in Boro's 2-0 triumph against Watford at the Riverside Stadium.
With 25% of the vote, Akpom held off stiff competition to take home January's award, with Burnley left-back Ian Maatsen finishing just behind in second with 22%.
Reinvigorated Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki finished in third place with 18% of the vote, with Coventry City star Kasey Palmer ranking in fourth with 15%.
Luton Town forward Elijah Adebayo came in fifth place with 11%, and former Bristol City striker Antoine Semenyo - who completed a late January transfer window move to Bournemouth - ranked sixth with 9%.
