The winner of the PFA Vertu Motors Championship Fans' Player of the Month - March
By 90min Staff
Burnley star Nathan Tella has been named the PFA Vertu Motors Championship Fans' Player of the Month for March.
The Southampton loanee enjoyed a superb month for the Clarets, who have since sealed promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Tella gained 26% of the public vote to beat Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres, Sheffield United midfielder Tommy Doyle, Stoke City defender Ki-Jana Hoever and Middlesbrough duo Chuba Akpom and Cameron Archer to the award.
The 23-year-old bagged a brace in a 3-0 win at home to Wigan Athletic to kick off memorable month.
After scoring his first career hat-trick in February, Tella netted his second treble to round off his scoring exploits in March, putting Hull City to the sword in a 3-1 win away from home.
Tella also dug in deep to earn 0-0 draws away to Blackpool and at home to Sunderland at either end of March.
With assists in their promotion-sealing win at Middlesbrough and then second-placed Sheffield United, Tella has carried his form into April and is likely to be nominated for this month's award too.
Burnley are currently 12 points clear at the top of the Championship table with five games to go, and can wrap up the title within the next week if they avoid defeat and Sheffield United drop points in their next game.
