Timo Werner, Memphis Depay & Nicolas Pepe among players offered to Newcastle
Newcastle United have been offered a host of high-profile forward players in recent weeks, 90min understands, including Timo Werner, Memphis Depay and Nicolas Pepe.
The Magpies have welcomed goalkeeper Nick Pope, centre-back Sven Botman and left-back Matt Targett, who spent last season on loan in the North East, to St James' Park so far this summer - but have ambitions of strengthening Eddie Howe's attacking arsenal.
Ideally the club would like to sign a wide forward and a striker, though Newcastle's ability to spend big is hampered somewhat by the need to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
Nevertheless, a number of players have been offered to the club by agents and intermediaries in recent weeks, with Newcastle currently considering the options that have been forward to them.
Listen now to 90min's Talking Transfers podcast, with Scott Saunders, Graeme Bailey, Harry Symeou & Toby Cudworth. On the latest show they discuss Cristiano Ronaldo holding talks with Man Utd over his future, Barcelona attempting to sign Jules Kounde ahead of Chelsea, Man City rewarding Phil Foden with a new contract and more. 90min understands that Werner, Memphis and Pepe are just three of a string of fringe players touted for a move to St James' Park - the trio struggled for minutes at Chelsea, Barcelona and Arsenal respectively last season and are unlikely to see their situation change during 2022/23.
Paris Saint-Germain's Julian Draxler has also been offered to Newcastle as the Ligue 1 champions look to reduce their hefty wage bill, with Mauro Icardi and Georginio Wijnaldum also likely to be casualties of their summer purge.
In addition to being offered players, 90min understands that Watford duo Emmanuel Dennis and Ismaila Sarr are also being considered by Newcastle. Both players are unlikely to remain with the Hornets following their relegation to the Championship and could be available for knockdown fees.
