Toni Kroos is set to extend his contract with Real Madrid and stay with the Spanish giants until 2025, it has been revealed.

The German midfielder's future has been a hotly-followed topic in recent weeks, with his current deal with Los Blancos due to expire at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

Having shown class is permanent during his return to the German national men's team during the March international friendlies, Kroos is now expected to prolong his journey with Madrid by signing a new extension, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Kroos joined Madrid in 2014 and has since made over 450 appearances for the club in all competitions, winning four Champions League crowns and three La Liga titles among a host of other trophies.

While Carlo Ancelotti is bedding in a new generation of midfielders at the Bernabeu including Jude Bellingham, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde among others, Kroos has still started 20 games in Spain's top flight.

His long-time midfield partner Luka Modric has not been called upon as frequently, racking up 1161 minutes of La Liga action compared to Kroos' 1799 - only Valverde, Antonio Rudiger and Rodrygo have more.

The 34-year-old recently curtailed his international retirement and produced two outstanding performances as Germany beat France and the Netherlands in friendlies building towards Euro 2024.
