Top 11 wingers in the 2022/23 Nations League

The 2022/23 Nations League is just around the corner, with the domestic season fast approaching its conclusion.

France are the defending champions, having bested Spain in the 2020/21 final thanks to strikes from Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe.

They won't be the only attacking stars on display though. Here are the top wingers set to feature in the 2022/23 Nations League.

11. Eden Hazard

There's a fall from grace and then there's Eden Hazard. Three years ago, he was undisputedly one of the best players in the world, but nowadays he just can't stay fit.

However, he remains one of Belgium's leading lights up front and is fourth in their all-time appearances list. When he is fully fit, he's an absolute joy to watch - it just isn't all that frequent anymore.

10. Ivan Perisic

Longevity is the key here for Perisic. While rarely the main man for club or country, the Croatian has been a reliable part of the furniture wherever he's played.

He's reinvented himself as a wing back at Inter in recent times, but Perisic remains as big a goal threat as ever and usually delivers on the international stage for his country.

There are few players in world football who have as much of a galvanising effect on their national team like Bale.

Whenever he isn't being shot to ribbons by Spain's media, Bale is inspiring Wales to new and unthought of heights, as evidenced by their standing in the top Nations League division for 2022/23.

Those in England only got the one season to gauge Torres' abilities, but it's certain that Barcelona and Spain have one hell of a prospect on their hands.

His finishing undoubtedly needs some fine-tuning, but even so the former Manchester City forward already has 13 goals for La Roja at just 22 years of age.

7. Jadon Sancho

If it weren't for the 'Manchester United are rubbish' tax and his lack of opportunities for England, Sancho would likely place a few rankings higher here.

However, it's only a matter of time before he becomes a mainstay in the Three Lions starting XI, even with the amount of competition for places.

It took a few seasons for Sane to find his feet for Bayern Munich, but now he's settled and turning in excellent performances for the perennial German champions.

With Germany, he enjoyed a good 2021, scoring five goals, though he didn't put his best foot forward at Euro 2020. With a host of attacking stars alongside him, Sane should enjoy success on the international scene soon.

It's been hard for Coman to shine for France since his debut in 2015, mainly due to the presence of Les Bleus forwards like Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe.

However, his output at club level with Bayern remains consistent and France will need him at his creative and electric best against Denmark, Croatia and Austria.

4. Federico Chiesa

The 2021/22 season was primed to be Chiesa's breakthrough term with Juventus, having starred as a super sub with Italy at Euro 2020. It wasn't to be, however, as he was unfancied by Massimiliano Allegri before picking up a torn ACL.

Regardless, his talent is undeniable and provides Italy with an added spark in attack. If he's fit for the summer, expect Chiesa to give Germany and England some problems.

He isn't your classic winger now, but when you play with Cristiano Ronaldo at international level it's expected that you do most of your hard yards out wide.

Jota has exploded as a goalscoring extraordinaire since his move to Liverpool from Wolves, resulting in more recognition with an already stacked Portugal lineup.

Whenever Sterling gets unnecessary heat, he steps up his game. That was on show at Euro 2020, where he scored three goals for England en route to the final.

It took a while for the Manchester City winger to get his first Three Lions goal, but he has since former a lethal attacking partnership with Harry Kane and is never far away from seeing the net bulge.

Gnabry's 2019/20 season catapulted him into the superstar stratosphere that he remains in today. Every shot he took that campaign seemed to end up in the back of the net - just ask any Tottenham fan.

He's also racked up 20 international strikes for Germany already, making him arguably their biggest threat in front of goal.
