MLS NEXT Pro continues to make headlines with the talented players taking part in the relatively new youth system in North America.
It's no surprise that New England Revolution, New York Red Bulls, and FC Dallas appear on the list as they are among the youth-oriented teams in Major League Soccer. The five players here are names that you should keep an eye out for as they are destined to go pro in the next few years.
5. Olger Escobar - New England Revolution
Position: Right winger
Age: 17
The young forward has incredible technique to go along with his rapid pace, making him a feared opponent for defenders now and in the future. Escobar is also able to score goals from just about anywhere - inside and outside the box to add value in the final third.
4. Taha Habroune - Columbus Crew
Position: Midfielder
Age: 17
Taha Habroune has proven to be a midfield general at such a young age. While the young playmaker is exceptional on the ball, he makes great runs off the ball and his movement is what separates him from other players.
3. Jude Wellings - Real Salt Lake
Position: Midfielder
Age: 17
Jude Wellings has shown that he can be 'do-it-all' midfielder, scoring plenty of decisive goals while also helping out in defense. In 2021, he was the captian of Real Salt Lake's U-15 side at the MLS NEXT Pro tournament.
2. Davi Alexandre - New York Red Bulls
Position: Center-back
Age: 16
New York Red Bulls have themselves an exciting prospect at center-back with Davi Alexandre. Alexandre has a high football IQ for his age, and is comfortable on the ball, which is a must in the modern game.
Having experience with the U-16 US national team, Alexandre has demonstrated excellent leadership skills in the past.
1. Julian Eyestone - FC Dallas
Position: Goalkeeper
Age: 17
FC Dallas have yet another talented player coming through their ranks. 17-year-old Julian Eyestone, who stands at 6'6", is making waves already between the sticks.
Eyestone recently represented the Western Conference in the 2023 MLS NEXT All-Star game. The young goalkeeper is also renowned for his ability to save penalty kicks at a solid rate.
