Tottenham secured qualification for the Europa League group stage by thrashing Maccabi Haifa 7-2 on Thursday night, with Harry Kane netting a hat trick.

Kane tapped home in the second minute from Ben Davies' fizzed cross but their Israeli opponents squared things up shortly after when former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Tjaronn Chery thumped in a fiery effort from range.

Lucas restored Spurs' lead with a near post header before Giovani Lo Celso's double took Jose Mourinho's side's lead to 4-1.

Two penalties given for handball - both of which seemed harsh - saw Kane and Rukavytsya score, before Kane completed his hat trick with a dinked finish. Dele Alli - returning to the squad after missing the Chelsea win on Tuesday - won a penalty with a beautiful nutmeg before converting it to wrap up the scoring.

Tottenham will discover their group stage opponents on Friday when the Europa League draw takes place, but for now here are Thursday night's player ratings.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Joe Hart (GK) - 7/10 - No clean sheet again for the summer signing but there was nothing he could do about Chery's strike - probably wouldn't have liked his defenders standing off and allowing him to shoot - and guessed the wrong way for Rukavytsya's penalty. Was tested frequently and stood up to everything fired his way bar the goals.

Matt Doherty (RB) - 6/10 - Some more handball drama for Spurs, this time involving Doherty. His arm was down by his side, so seemed extremely harsh. Was typically adventurous but didn't have too much final product.

Davinson Sanchez (CB) - 5/10 - Went AWOL positionally early on and needed Hart to bail him out with a good save. It was an open game and Maccabi got their fair amount of shots away, so work to be done for Sanchez and partner Toby Alderweireld.

Toby Alderweireld (CB) - 5/10 - Again, Tottenham were a little too soft in defence and often didn't close Maccabi's attackers down quick enough. Otherwise a standard workout for Alderweireld.

Ben Davies (LB) - 7/10 - Needed a big performance after Sergio Reguilon's promising debut on Tuesday and was on the money straight away, whipping in a low cross for Kane's early opener. Otherwise fine.

2. Midfielders

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (CM) - 7/10 - Starting to look more and more comfortable with his role in Tottenham's team. Mopped up very well on Thursday night and was substituted with Sunday's trip to Manchester United in mind.

Harry Winks (CM) - 6/10 - Looks like he's capable of playing alongside Hojbjerg after a dodgy couple of performances in the first few games of the season. Nothing overly extravagant, just a very Winks performance.

Giovani Lo Celso (CM) - 8/10
- Missed a decent opening when closing in on goal from a tight opening, but doubled his account for Tottenham goals with his first-half brace. Substituted during the interval.

3. Forwards

Steven Bergwijn (RW) - 8/10 - Whipped in the cross that led to Lucas' header and set up Kane's third. If you're being hyper critical, he looks disappointingly short of confidence in front of goal. Was sent through in the second half and elected to go for the chip. Just smack it next time, Stevie.

Harry Kane (ST) - 9/10 - Got his first early on and netted his second with a penalty - the awarding of which, again, looked harsh. Secured his hat trick by clipping in from Bergwijn's pass and was hooked shortly after.

Lucas Moura (LW) - 7/10 - The winger made it two goals in three games with his front post header. Buzzed around and was always a free body when Spurs stretched Maccabi on the break.

4. Substitutes

Dele Ali - 7/10

Moussa Sissoko - 5/10

Sergio Reguilon - 5/10
