The Tottenham lineup that should start against West Brom
By Max Parsons
Jose Mourinho's Tottenham host struggling West Brom in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, in a must win game for both sides.
The visitors find themselves in a tough relegation scrap and are winless in four, having lost to Sheffield United 2-1 most recently. The loss left the Baggies ten points adrift from safety with an extra game played.
Spurs also find themselves in woeful form coming into this one. Mourinho's men have lost their last three league games in disappointing fashion. Their last match ended in a 1-0 home defeat to London rivals Chelsea, leaving Spurs ninth and putting the pressure on Mourinho, who is in dire need of a win.
Here is the team that could start on Sunday.
1. Goalkeeper & Defenders
Hugo Lloris (GK) - The Frenchman is the out and out favourite between the sticks, having played in every Premier League game this campaign.
Serge Aurier (RB) - Always has the potential to threaten when he plays, as two goals in 12 appearances from right back this season shows. The Ivorian will hope to influence more in the final third than he has managed of late.
Toby Alderweireld (CB) - The Belgian featured last time out against Chelsea and, despite the Tottenham back line looking shaky, will likely start once more.
Joe Rodon (CB) - Eric Dier, on the other hand, may not keep his place. The England international was woeful against the Blues meaning Mourinho may rotate his squad, giving Rodon a chance.
Ben Davies (LB) - Another Welshman to finish the back line. With Sergio Reguilon still out, Davies will be the probable starter at left back for the West Brom game.
2. Midfielders
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (CM) - The Dane is crucial for Spurs. Hasn't missed a game this season and ranks seventh in the league and higher than any other Tottenham player for tackles (56).
Harry Winks (CM) - Moussa Sissoko didn't impress at all against Chelsea, which might open the door for Winks. The Englishman has only started nine Premier League ties this season, but could make it seven against the Baggies.
Tanguy Ndombele (AM) - Another crucial part of the Tottenham side, but hasn't hit previous heights recently. The Frenchman is without a goal or assist in the last three matches.
3. Forwards
Gareth Bale (RW) - A lot has been made of the Welshman's lack of game time, but as Mourinho may look to rotate his side a bit, it could be time for Bale to step up for just his third league start since re-joining.
Carlos Vinicius (ST) - Spurs visibly miss Harry Kane, but with the England man still injured, Vinicius will lead the line again. He'll be hoping to do better than the headed chance he squandered late on against Chelsea.
Son Heung-Min (LW) - The South Korean has been directly involved in 16 goals in his last 15 appearances against newly promoted teams, with nine goals and seven assists. He could be crucial on Sunday.
