Tottenham may have their manager for the future in Ange Postecoglou, but it looks as if the club's trophy drought will continue until 2024/25.

Spurs exited the FA Cup on Friday night after Nathan Ake scored Manchester City's first-ever goal at their shiny new home in the dying embers of a fading tie, leaving the Premier League as the only piece of silverware up for grabs.

Postecoglou's side currently sit fifth in the table and eight points behind leaders Liverpool.

They do, however, have a chance to go on a run over the next few weeks and potentially thrust themselves into unlikely title contention. Their tame upcoming schedule begins against Brentford on Wednesday night, and here's how they could line up for it.

GK: Guglielmo Vicario - The Italian was the subject of the minor controversy surrounding City's winner on Friday, but there surely wasn't enough to award a foul on the goalkeeper.

RB: Pedro Porro - A constant in the backline this season, Porro won't be relinquishing his spot in midweek.

CB: Cristian Romero - Postecoglou has Radu Dragusin to call upon, but the Romanian will likely have to wait for a Romero suspension until he gets a gig.

CB: Micky van de Ven - The lightning-quick Dutchman has slotted back in seamlessly following a lengthy injury layoff.

LB: Destiny Udogie - The dynamic full-back impressed against the Cityzens and is already regarded as one of the Premier League's best in his position.

DM: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg - The Dane is unlikely to move on at this late stage of the window, especially after his rather measured showing on Friday night. He could keep his place in Spurs' midfield.

CM: Rodrigo Bentancur - Bentancur wasn't at his elegant best last time out, but the midfielder is not going to drop out of the XI on Wednesday night.

CM: James Maddison - The playmaker was unable to inspire yet another victory over the Cityzens in N17 off the bench, but his return was nonetheless timely following three months on the sidelines

RW: Dejan Kulusevski - Brennan Johnson could do with a game out of the limelight, and Spurs' work in the final third should improve with Kulusevski returning to the right flank given the Swede's profile.

ST: Richarlison - The Brazilian is poised to remain as Tottenham's #9 for the remainder of the season after enjoying a timely upturn in form before the winter window.

LW: Timo Werner - With Son still away at the Asia Cup, January arrival Werner will get a third consecutive start.
