Football pays tribute to late Tottenham & England legend Jimmy Greaves
The football world has been paying tribute to one of the true goalscoring greats of the game following the death of Jimmy Greaves in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The former England and Tottenham striker passed away at home at the age of 81.
While he also played for Chelsea, West Ham and Milan, Greaves is renowned for his time with Spurs. He rattled in 266 goals in 379 appearances in north London between 1961 and 1970, and his 37-goal haul in the 1962/63 league season remains the club's record for a single campaign.
Greaves also excelled internationally, of course. He was a member of England's glorious 1966 World Cup squad and scored 44 times in just 57 senior caps.
Following the loss of one of Tottenham and England's greatest ever players, the football world has paid tribute to a legend of the game. Rest in peace, Jimmy.
