Twitter reacts as England Euro 2020 squad is announced

After months, no, years of conjecture England's squad for Euro 2020 has finally been unveiled.
Gareth Southgate made us wait all day before finally putting us out of our misery and when he did, Twitter had plenty to say about his choices.
One of the major talking points over the past few months has been whether or not Trent Alexander-Arnold would make the cut. The saga had plenty of twists and turn right up until the last as well. Over the course of the day, Alexander-Arnold was said to be missing out one minute, then he was back in the 26 the next...
In the end the Liverpool defender did make the cut, much to the delight of Reds Twitter.
Imagine Wretch getting the call. “We’re going to need you go back in the studio. He picked Trent.” https://t.co/ctI7nsFQbb

This is why I never trust football Twitter. Trent IS in the England squad. As he should be.

A reminder that Trent has scored/assisted 47 goals from right-back in the past three seasons. Forty-seven.

Can Trent play in goal?

Alexander-Arnold will be joined at the tournament by no less than three other right-backs with Southgate refusing to part with Kieran Tripper, Kyle Walker or Reece James.
Plenty of people had different opinions over who should have been left at home, but most agreed that Southgate might have overdone it.
Everyone sees four right backs. I see four very good footballers.

Over 15% of England's Euro 2020 squad are right-backs

That'll do, Gareth pic.twitter.com/Zh5Zf8UU53

FOUR right backs, Gareth? #englandsquad #ThreeLions ???????? pic.twitter.com/qJ42zXnysX

There was a similarly fiery debate over the merit of omitting Jesse Lingard, James Ward-Prowse, Ollie Watkins and Ben Godfrey from the squad. However, nobody seemed particularly bothered about Aaron Ramsdale being left out...
No way on Earth Coady and Mings are better than Godfrey but he's too late to the party.

Lingard and Watkins deserved better, should have been in over Saka and Sterling.

Me now that Saka is in the England squad pic.twitter.com/2j8oLaJbcQ

No Lingard I’m actually so sad. What a joke how is Sterling ahead of Lingard? And 4 right backs lol. #England

“I can now reveal that the seventh person to be cut from the England squad is... Ollie Watkins. You have thirty seconds to say your goodbyes; I'm coming to get you!” pic.twitter.com/jNcQrcoPSf

Despite some of the aforementioned disagreements, the vast majority of the sentiment was positive towards the squad. Perhaps it really is coming home this time?
I’ve seen the squad and can confirm England are going to win the Euros.
