Twitter reacts with Ralf Rangnick set to be named Man Utd interim manager

Manchester United have got their man...sort of: Ralf Rangnick is set to be named as the club's interim boss until the end of the season, when a permanent appointment will be made.
The 63-year-old German will replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Old Trafford dugout on a six-month contract, after which he'll take up a consultancy role for a further two years.
It all seems pretty...smart?!
I’m in shock. This is the most competent move they could have made?!

Nah man I’m actually crying. Finally getting a football nerd at my club. And it’s actually the fathers gegenpress https://t.co/xCNzHIucen

I think it's okay to praise United for Rangnick. I think it's okay to still want Pochettino in the summer. All appears well, here. Feels strange. #mufc

Needless to say there was plenty of excitement (even though 80% of Football Twitter couldn't claim to have seen a Rangnick team in action) - mainly because of his influence on some of the very best coaches in the game, including Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp, Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel, and young Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann.
Made this in March: the Ralf Rangnick coaching tree. A group of coaches he has inspired / influenced at various clubs throughout his career. List includes Julian Nagelsmann, Marco Rose, Jesse Marsch and more. pic.twitter.com/ax4OFnFUTP

Well sure, he's the father of Gegenpressing, the architect of the Red Bull football empire and the man who inspired Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel, Ralph Hasenhuttl and Julian Nagelsmann, but does Ralf Rangnick 'get' Manchester United?

Ralf Rangnick taught Klopp and Tuchel coaching so if the students are doing well, imagine the master himself. Just imagine Bro ! pic.twitter.com/Axo1GF70S7

Others weren't so convinced by his track record, despite his reputation as a pioneer of the Gegenpress...
The biggest trophy Ralf Rangnick has ever won is "He inspired Klopp, Tuchel and Nagelsmann".

Nice move, Manchester United.
90% of Manchester United fans before claiming that Ralf Rangnick is better than Tuchel & Klopp: pic.twitter.com/Mhgs6ckU4x

"Rangnick made Klopp and Tuchel" Bit awkward they've both surpassed anything he achieved in the game then isn't it pic.twitter.com/EKHMpyIwKn

The imminent appointment puts a pin in Man Utd's pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino until the end of the season at least, when he will likely be the favourite for the vacancy once again.
Weirdly, he doesn't seem to be the popular choice...
Pochettino an outstanding candidate will be looked at again in the summer. However I personally believe that Rangnick style may be better suited to setting the table for Ten Hag arrival. Don’t believe a firm decision on that has been taken.

Summer will be make or break for United. Will we finally follow other clubs and sign a top tier manager who will get us Titles, or will we sign someone like Pochettino who will put us back to square 1
— Knights (@Knightsfn_) November 25, 2021
If Pochettino was to come mid season then I could've preferred him for 2022/23 season but since we have Ralf Rangnick for 6 months then the next manager must be Ten Hag, because Erik Ten Hag will be available & he is the superior coach, a perfect fit for #MUFC squad pic.twitter.com/S7uVG1QrJ5

And to finish, it turns out Rangnick has had a stint in English football before...
