The USMNT will look to bounce back from an embarrassing Copa America 2024 campaign in their two upcoming September friendlies.

The U.S. Men's Soccer Team crashed out of their home Copa America in the group stage after failing to advance from a group including Uruguay, Panama, and Bolivia. Gregg Berhalter lost his job in the aftermath. While the USSF has yet to announce his replacement, according to reports former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino will take over.

Even with so much uncertainty surrounding the Stars and Stripes, the senior USMNT will be back in action in September to play two international friendlies on home soil. The games might not mean anything on paper, but in reality, they are the perfect way for the talented, yet struggling squad to find their footing as the 2026 World Cup looms in the near future.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of the USMNT's September friendlies.

The USMNT will face Canada and New Zealand in their two upcoming September friendlies. The senior squad will look to put in impressive performances against both opponents after such a disappointing summer.

Unlike the Stars and Stripes, Canada had a successful Copa America 2024 campaign. Although the Reds did not walk away with any silverware, they finished fourth in the competition, giving new manager Jesse Marsch plenty to build on as he and his players look ahead to their match with the USA.

New Zealand, on the other hand, is no match for the United States (on paper, at least). The USMNT's U-23 squad just defeated New Zealand's U-23 side at the Paris 2024 Olympics 4-1, and will look for a similar result once the senior team faces off against a side that has not won a match since September 2023.
