Victoria Pelova gives Jonas Eidevall tough decision ahead of Bayern Munich Champions League showdown
Arsenal bounced back in from Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final first-leg defeat by Bayern Munich and appeared much-improved by the introduction of Victoria Pelova to the starting line-up in their win against Tottenham.
Pelova, who became a Gunner in the winter window after signing from Ajax, made all the difference from the wing at Brisbane Road, assisting both of Caitlin Foord's goals in Saturday's 5-1 victory.
The Dutchwoman was also showed off her work rate off the ball, and was a constant problem for Spurs' backline.
Arsenal will host Bayern in the second leg of their quarter-final on Wednesday and need to rectify a 1-0 deficit. Bayern will be happy to sit back and defend their league, and Jonas Eidevall will need to be creative in figuring out how the hosts can mount a comeback.
With Pelova's performance at the weekend, Eidevall may consider starting her for the tie. With the lack of a pure number nine, Arsenal will need their most creative attackers on the pitch, those who can make an abundance of changes to give the team a better opportunity to score.
After Arsenal's thrashing of Tottenham, Eidevall said: "Hopefully we go into the game on Wednesday with a good bit of self-confidence and I think we should have that from our performances.
"It is not a team who have one or two strong performances. We have built good momentum coming into these two games against Bayern Munich and City. Now it is up to us to execute it."
If Eidevall is serious about executing a comeback against the German side, he'd seriously consider shaking up his starting XI, and having her play a key role at the Emirates.
