West Ham 2-1 Tottenham: Player ratings as Jesse Lingard strike sinks sorry Spurs

West Ham returned to the Premier League's top four on Sunday as they picked up a memorable 2-1 win over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

West Ham needed just five minutes to open the scoring through Michail Antonio, who stabbed home from a cross to give the Hammers the perfect start. Both sides created plenty of chances afterwards, with Spurs creating more but West Ham having the better opportunities, but the two sides went in at half-time with the score at 1-0.

West Ham had the ball in the back of the net just minutes after the restart as Jesse Lingard's excellent strike survived a VAR check. Lucas Moura's 64th-minute header gave Spurs a route back into the game, and substitute Gareth Bale nearly added a worldie of a second with a half volley that crashed against the bar, but they could not find a way through before the full-time whistle.

WEST HAM

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Lukasz Fabianski (GK) - 6/10 - Pulled out a couple of decent saves but will have been frustrated to be beaten at the near post by Moura's header.

Vladimir Coufal (RB) - 6/10 - Struggled to contain Son and Reguilon but made enough of a nuisance of himself to limit the Spurs duo to crosses.

Craig Dawson (CB) - 7/10 - Continues to astound. Marshalled West Ham's back line and kept Kane quiet throughout. Could even have scored with a thumping header before the break.

Issa Diop (CB) - 7/10 - Diop is looking like the 2018/19 version of himself again. He was throwing himself in front of everything and rising high to win crosses with ease. Dawson's composure has worked wonders.

Aaron Cresswell (LB) - 7/10 - Shifted back over to left-back, Cresswell had a busy game defensively but showed exactly why he has been trusted at centre-back recently. Was hoovering the ball up all the time and even got forward to keep things ticking at that end too.

2. Midfielders

Tomas Soucek (DM) - 7/10 - Needed patching up after a clash of heads left him with a nasty cut, but not before he stood up to try and block the ball again. Soucek was everywhere in midfield, destroying Spurs' attacks all day.

Declan Rice (DM) - 6/10 - Sat deep to allow Soucek the freedom to move forwards, and although he did do a good job of marshalling things, he did find himself a little overwhelmed at times.

Jarrod Bowen (RM) - 6/10 - Put in a great cross for Antonio's opener but disappeared for the rest of the game. Didn't help Coufal at the back either.

Pablo Fornals (AM) - 5/10 - Still doesn't seem to be clicking for Fornals. Sloppy in possession, but at least made up for it with some decent work rate.

Jesse Lingard (LM) - 8/10 - The man who scored the last goal of Mourinho's Manchester United reign came back to haunt him again. Took his goal superbly and caused regular problems for Spurs' back line.

3. Forward

Michail Antonio (ST) - 7/10 - Did incredibly well to poke home his opener, and now has more goals against Spurs than any other Premier League side.

4. Substitutes

TOTTENHAM

5. Goalkeeper & defenders

Hugo Lloris (GK) - 6/10 - Made a handful of decent saves but will be frustrated with West Ham's opener. Probably should have come off his line but wasn't helped out by his defence.

Japhet Tanganga (RB) - 5/10 - Struggled out at right-back and was hung out to dry by Dier for Antonio's opener. Hooked at half-time for someone with more attacking prowess.

Davinson Sanchez (CB) - 5/10 - Another rough performance from Sanchez. Looked nervous whenever the ball came his way and didn't even put up a fight for Lingard's goal.

Eric Dier (CB) - 4/10 - Forgot how to defend for both goals but spent too long looking around for someone else to blame. Another of those games which will have fans questioning why he is back in defence.

Sergio Reguilon (LB) - 4/10 - The only time Reguilon was involved was when he was being told off by the referee for persistent fouling. It was his first game back after injury but he looked painfully rusty.

6. Midfielders

Tanguy Ndombele (DM) - 5/10 - Looked disinterested in this deeper role. Struggled with the lack of time given to him by West Ham's forwards and had to force things far too often. Needs to be further forward to turn this around.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (DM) - 5/10 - Seems to have lost some of the intensity from earlier in the season. Bullied by Soucek and Rice and struggled to keep Spurs ticking.

Erik Lamela (RM) - 6/10 - Surprisingly hauled off at the break after being Spurs' most exciting player in the first half. Had a mazy run which deserved an assist, but didn't get the chance to build on it.

Lucas Moura (AM) - 7/10 - A header? Lucas Moura? Popped up with an impressive goal, finally offering up some goal action to go with his impressive work rate.

Son Heung-min (LM) - 5/10 - Honestly, forgot Son was playing until he ballooned a late effort well wide.

7. Forward

Harry Kane (ST) - 7/10 - Worked tirelessly to try to get Spurs back into this one. Had a rough day in front of goal but resorted to creating great chances for his teammates. Should have had an assist or two.

8. Substitutes

Gareth Bale - 8/10

Matt Doherty - 6/10

Dele Alli - 6/10
