West Ham's 2023/24 Europa League pot & potential group stage opponents
- West Ham won the Europa Conference League last season
- Victory meant they qualified automatically for Europa League
- Hammers reached competition's semi-finals in 2022
2022/23 was a pretty wretched season for West Ham, but continental success in Prague meant their domestic woes were forgotten in an instant.
The Hammers had ended the Premier League season in 14th, just a year after finishing seventh and were Europa League semi-finalists. However, success in the Europa Conference League had led them to the competition's showpiece event against Fiorentina in June and a cool last-gasp finish from Jarrod Bowen ensured silverware returned to east London.
West Ham's triumph means the London Stadium will play host to European football for a third consecutive season and David Moyes' side are back in the Europa League.
Here's who the Europa Conference League winners could face in the upcoming group stage, with the draw taking place on Friday 1 September.
What 2023/24 Europa League pot are West Ham in?
West Ham's Europa Conference League triumph saw them qualify automatically for the Europa League and they'll be in Pot 1 as a result of their success.
The inaugural Conference League victors, Roma, led by Jose Mourinho, embarked on a lengthy Europa League journey last season and were beaten in the final by Sevilla, of course, on penalties.
The Hammers will be hoping to enjoy a run akin to their 2021/22 campaign in which they reached the semi-finals before losing to eventual champions Eintracht Frankfurt over two legs.

There's still plenty to sort ahead in terms of pot placings ahead of Friday's draw, with the remaining Champions League and Europa League play-offs having a major influence.
At the time of writing, there are ten definite potential opponents for West Ham in the Europa League group stage from Pots 2, 3 and 4.
Sporting CP and Rennes could drop into Pot 2 and emerge as potential dangerous opponents for the Hammers, with Real Betis being the only confirmed Pot 2 side so far. The established Marseille are going to look very different from the side that faced Tottenham in last season's Champions League, but they'll nonetheless prove tough opposition for the Premier League side.
The remainder of the confirmed teams certainly won't strike too much fear into the Irons, although Freiburg are an exceptionally well-drilled side that play a similar brand of football to Moyes in east London under Christian Streich.
While travelling fans probably wouldn't mind a long away day, Moyes would much rather limit the number of air miles his side rack up on their travels. Thus, he'll be hoping West Ham avoid the likes of Maccabi Haifa and Panathinaikos in Friday's draw.
