West Ham 'Considering Selling' Sébastien Haller After Just One Season

Sébastien Haller's time at West Ham could be coming to an end as the club are thought to be open to selling him.

Haller arrived at the start of the season from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt for a club-record fee which could rise as high as £45m. However, the 25-year-old striker has failed to replicate his form in Germany, scoring just four league goals since September, and just seven in total for West Ham.

West Ham have endured a dreadful track record of buying ineffective strikers in recent years, and Haller appears to be the latest name on that ever-growing list.

The Daily Express report that the Irons are considering cashing in on Haller, and would be willing to cut their losses in order to get him off the books.

Haller recently admitted his motives behind the move to West Ham, stating: “It [the move] happened because I had the opportunity.

“It was perhaps logical for me to go to West Ham after all I have experienced in Frankfurt. That [the burden] depends on the perspective. If you are successful, everything is fine.

“If you miss your goals, you get criticised. The only thing you can do as a player is to use all your strength and energy. That depends on yourself.”

One of the names touted as the Frenchman's replacement is Chelsea's Michy Batshuayi, who the Express believe is valued at around £40m. The 26-year-old has started just one Premier League game under Frank Lampard all season, but West Ham would face competition with Crystal Palace for the Belgium international's signature.

A source has also told 90min that West Ham, along with Newcastle United, are also in the market for Real Madrid's Luka Jovic, though this could actually hinge on Haller staying.

The pair combined superbly in their time at Frankfurt, with Jovic scoring 27 goals in all competitions in the 2018/19 season. This prompted Real Madrid to snap up the 22-year-old Serbian, but he has struggled for minutes under Zinedine Zidane this campaign, starting just four La Liga matches.
