Sports Interactive have confirmed that women's football will make its Football Manager debut in FM 2025.
In 2021, it was revealed that plans to introduce women's football to Football Manager were underway but no timeframe was put on the release amid the need to build a new database, adjust attributes and capture new animations, among a whole host of potential complications.
While that work will not be completed in time for the release of Football Manager 2024 later this year, SI have now confirmed that FM25 will see the introduction of women's football for the first time.
"The FM25 cycle will also see the long-awaited introduction of women’s football to the Football Manager series," an update from SI manager Miles Jacobson read.

"Before I go into the details, I want to acknowledge that since we first announced our commitment to introduce the women’s game back in July 2021, we haven't provided any further public updates on the project which has led to speculation and some frustration.
"The facts are that we've made really good progress in many areas, including research, the match engine and translation. But there are other areas that haven't made enough advancements, a lot of which are legal issues. The women's game deserves to be the best it possibly can be when it is released - and the new graphics engine will help deliver that.
"Supporting us in bringing this project to life are some key people from inside the women's game, who are passionate about helping us deliver the most authentic experience possible."
Alongside the inclusion of women's football, FM25 will be the first in the series to use the Unity engine, which goes alongside the new motion captures to give female models a unique feel in the game.
There is no release date for FM25 - FM24 is due to come in late 2023 - so fans of women's football can expect the game to drop some time around November 2024.
