Women's Euro 2022: Sweden launch kit detailing how to beat them

Sweden have made a bold statement with their Euro 2022 kit launch by including a complete instruction guide detailing how to beat them.

The Olympic silver medallists are one of the pre-tournament favourites heading into the summer's festivities in England, and have kicked off the mind games as the clock ticks down to the championships getting underway.

Sweden will don a classic yellow and blue adidas kit for the tournament, with the label written by the team's match analyst Anders Eriksson.

The label is a full 34 pages long and is titled 'How to Stop Sweden'. It features a page each on the team's attacking and defensive strengths, plus 31 pages on the individual players in the national side, with tips on how to play against them.

"As a tribute to Sweden as one of the world's most open and transparent countries, we launch the women's national team's new national team jersey with a guide for our opponents," Sweden's official Twitter account wrote. "The guide tells us how we play, how we win, and how to play against us to have a chance."

The guide recommends opponents force left back Jonna Andersson wide or back towards her own goal to prevent her driving forward and delivering crosses, while it strongly advises against letting Stina Blackstenius get the ball in the penalty area due to her efficiency in front of goal. There are also detailed passing maps, shot maps and dribbling diagrams for each player.

“In the analysis, we expose exactly how we win, how we play and how the opposing teams – perhaps – have a chance to stop us," Arsenal striker Blackstenius told Sweden's official national team website following the launch of the kit. “Our team is better than ever, and we enter the Euro’s with grit and confidence."

“The digital analysis of the team and the individual players is a hint to the opponents,” analyst Eriksson, the creator of the guide, added. “Now, they can simply buy the football jersey to have a chance to challenge them in the UEFA Women’s Euro.”

Euro 2022 takes place in England this summer, commencing at Old Trafford on 6 July and concluding at Wembley on 31 July.
