For the second consecutive year, Wrexham AFC is coming to the United States to play several pre-season matches in front of a growing American fanbase thanks to the docuseries, Welcome to Wrexham. The Red Dragons' first real test of the summer comes against AFC Bournemouth, a side that finished 12th in the Premier League last season.
The two sides have not met in over 19 years; in fact, the last time they clashed was in a League One fixture back in 2005. Historically, the Cherries have typically come out on top against Wrexham, but the Red Dragons are coming off a promotion to League One, and will look to prove themselves against a Premier League club.

The Red Dragons are dealing with several long-term injuries and recent knocks that kept Lewis Brunt, Tom O'Connor, Steven Fletcher, and Jacob Mendy on the bench for Wrexham's first pre-season fixture against Hanley Town. The four players did travel to the West Coast, though, unlike Paul Mullin who is still recovering from spinal surgery. The goalscorer will miss the entire Wrex Coast Tour '24, along with the first few weeks of the season.

Like most teams throughout Europe, Bournemouth will be without several key players at the start of their pre-season due to Euro 2024 and Copa America 2024. Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra represented their countries in the United States this summer while Ilya Zabarnyi, Milos Kerkez, and Ryan Christie competed in Germany.
Enes Unal is also unavailable for the Cherries after undergoing foot surgery at the beginning of June. The striker was forced to sit out of Euro 2024, and will use the rest of the summer break to recover from his injury.
