The 2021/22 WSL season was a significant one for the women's game thanks to the landmark broadcast deal coming into play - and with new branding, fresh summer arrivals and a post-Euro 2022 feel-good wave, the 2022/23 campaign promises to be even bigger.

Chelsea go into the campaign on the hunt for their fourth successive league title, while Liverpool will be welcomed back into the top flight following two years in the Championship.

Here are all the key dates for the 2022/23 WSL season.

What are the 2022/23 WSL season dates?

The 2022/23 WSL season will take place between 9 September 2022 and 28 May 2023.

The start date is one week later than the 2021/22 season due to international fixtures taking place the previous weekend.

When are the 2022/23 WSL fixtures announced?

The 2022/23 WSL fixtures were released on 12 July.

When is the 2022 WSL transfer window open?

The 2022 WSL transfer window opens on 17 June and closes on 8 September - one day before the WSL season kicks off.

When does the 2022/23 WSL season start?

The opening round of fixtures for the 2022/23 season will take place across the weekend of 9-11 September. This could include an opening Friday evening fixture, as was the case during the 2021/22 season.

When is the 2022/23 WSL winter break?

A midseason winter break will be in place once more, with the WSL pausing and no matches taking place between 19 December 2022 and 13 January 2023.

WSL matches will still take place during the Men's 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with fixtures scheduled for the weekends of 3-4 and 10-11 of December.

When is the final weekend of the 2022/23 WSL season?

The final round of fixtures for the 2022/23 WSL season will take place across the weekend of 27-28 May.

The final day of the 2022/23 WSL season is three weeks later than the conclusion of the 2021/22 WSL season. The later finish to the WSL season means that the final day of the league campaign will signal the end of the 2022/23 domestic season, as opposed to the FA Cup final.

Should an English team reach the Champions League final however, this fixture will signal the last game of their season, with the 2022/23 Women's Champions League final taking place on the weekend of 3-4 June 2023.

When is the 2022/23 Women's FA Cup final?

The 2022/23 Women's FA Cup final will take place at Wembley on the weekend of the 14-15 May. Due to the delayed end to the WSL campaign, the FA Cup final will not be the concluding game of the 2022/23 season.
