The WSL was short two games over the weekend as Arsenal vs Tottenham and Manchester City vs Birmingham both fell victim to Covid-19 concerns.

But one thing the league wasn't short of was action of the highest quality as four other games went ahead as planned - including Manchester United's historic clash with Everton at Old Trafford and Chelsea's record-breaking annihilation of Leicester.

There was also an important win for Brighton over West Ham in the battle for mid-table places, and a closely fought contest between Aston Villa and Reading.

Read on to see which players made it into 90min's WSL team of the week...

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Katie Startup (GK) - Brighton: Thrown in at the deep end in the absence of usual starter Megan Walsh, but made saves that contributed to a clean sheet and win.

Ona Batlle (RB) - Man Utd: Her Surging runs forward from right-back helped her team gain an attacking foothold after losing an early goal against Everton. Assisted the equaliser and saw loads of the ball.

Millie Bright (CB) - Chelsea: Didn't need to do much defending due to the nature of Chelsea's enormous win, yet she almost played like a quarter-back, distributing the ball out of defence as the first wave of attack.

Victoria Williams (CB) - Brighton: Back to the kind of form she was showing on a weekly basis in the first third of the season. Won headers and made clearances to repel West Ham from her team's goal.

Guro Reiten (LB) - Chelsea: Got the ball rolling for the Blues with their opening goal after just a few minutes against Leicester and doubled her personal tally in first-half stoppage time.

2. Midfielders

Inessa Kaagman (CM) - Brighton: Had a direct hand in both of her team's goals in a 2-0 win. Laid on the opener for Aileen Whelan and then made sure of the result by killing the game off with a goal of her own.

Laura Blindkilde (CM) - Aston Villa: The 18-year-old made a big impact to secure her team an invaluable point against Reading. She created several openings and assisted the equaliser.

Ella Toone (AM) - Man Utd: Missed a chance to score a dream goal at Old Trafford but pulled the strings for her team in so many other ways, whether picking passes or making smarts runs forward herself.

3. Forwards

Alessia Russo (FW) - Man Utd: Her two headers at Old Trafford changed the game after Everton had gone ahead early. Showed off more of her all-round game and was heavily involved in build up play.

Bethany England (FW) - Chelsea: Has had to make do with a bit-part role this season but proved she cannot be ignored after two goals and two assists in her team's rout of Leicester.

Sam Kerr (FW) - Chelsea: Added two more goals to her tally in the WSL golden boot race, as well as laying on one for strike partner England. Had five shots but was also creative in her own right.
